I thought the team played well. Dunlap had no plan with 11 seconds on the clock. That was Normesque. Some were meant to hold the clipboard

He should have never called the timeout IMO.  We seemed to have 'Nova out of sorts.

Without a timeout and a team leader on the floor, what should he have done. I am curious, not criticizing your comment.

I like the idea of not allowing the other team to set up but unfortunately our only ballhandler fouled out and the guys were obviously frazzled. . . ballhandling got very dicey without Harrison...so I also wished that we went right after Villanova's soft belly but understand why coach felt the need for a TO

Did GG really have zero rebounds or were we being facetious?

No excuse for Gift...that SCREAMS lack of effort.  I'd make him run all week long...

Home from the game...

Really was a good game.   Neither team is great, but we played much better to start the game, and to start the second half then we did in either of our last two games.

It's not a moral victory.  We should have won.  But there's no shame in giving the guys support for playing playing hard.   And it's not just that they played hard; you're right Will... that should be expected at the D1 level.   But our guys tried to play as a team, and for stretches they did.  No one dominated the ball or played for themselves.  They tried very hard to do the things they're being taught.

This is a good team.  They're are definitely some holes.  But the future is bright.

As long as these kids stay together and we add a few pieces next yr will be much better and the year after that even better. In Lavs I trust.

Totally agree! Dont know how it looked on TV, but if you were at the game you could see we had them totally on their heels...as a matter of fact I think someone actually scored a bucket after we called timeout and Nova was still playing D because they hadnt heard it either. Dunlap totally pulled a Jason Garrett and iced us...the whole second half we had trouble inbounding the ball, much less handling it against the pressure.

Dunlap makes some of the most cliche coaching decisions ever. He doesn't pay attention to what is happening in front of him.

Amir Garrett gives us literally nothing on the offensive end of the court. He can't shoot and is too scared to shoot, his ball handling is poor...what happened to all the hype this kid was gonna bring?

Have you ever played an organized sport?  I'd love to see how you'd respond to being into a new level playing against guys as much as 4 years older playing for a complex scheme in the middle of the year.   When everyone in practice gets it but you...the speed of the game, the physicality, and sheer size and athleti ism of your opponent is. Otho g like you've experienced. I'm sure you'd do fine though.

it's sickening to see posters throw around the "good effort guys!" and "atleast we played hard!" posts.  That is how LOSERS talk.  All that matters is W's...

We should all aspire to Illwill's standards.  What the hell is wrong with us, supporting this team of underachievrs and trying to find positives in hard fought defeats to a deeper and more experienced team.  I am so ashamed to be such a loser!

good comments as I am recently home from the game.  the lads played hard and did not give up--even in OI when they were down by 7.  I thought we got jobbed on a number of calls--Sir's hard foul was clean as he had ball.  would like to hear what those who saw it on TV thought based on commentary/replay

NEWSFLASH:  we have a team of freshmen who are on scholarship who have never won anything at this level in their lives.  THEY SHOULD BE PLAYING HARD.

it's sickening to see posters throw around the "good effort guys!" and "atleast we played hard!" posts.  That is how LOSERS talk.  All that matters is W's...

We all realize these kids are freshmen, but that doesn't mean at this point of the season they should play like they did down the stretch today.  It screams to a lack of fundamentals, bad coaching, and lack of offensive ability.

Yes, our kids played hard...but so does almost every team in america.

What it screams of is a team full of undersized, out of position freshmen, playing a team they've never seen before who still hung in and fought back like true warriors. BTW is there any doubt in your mind that we win this type of game next year ?
