I hate when guys question what team you root for when they have nothing more to add to the conversation

It's a valid question based on his posting history.

I hate when guys mercilessly rip a team of 5 freshmen and one JUCO Pf playing the 5, who have no bench and their head coach is out with cancer.  But what can you do?  You just move on.

Hey Baldi.. You still not have not answered my Lance question.. Would Norm's teams that were easy to root for include Lance if he chose St. John's?  You are the worst poster on the board.  I obviously don't matter, but if I had the power to vote one guy off the board it would be you.. And that is hard to say considering Illwill and his atrocious comments.  You are the worst.

I'm not sure what this all stems from but Baldi roots for St. John's just as much as the next guy. He clearly marches to his own drum when it comes to some issues but that's Baldi. I'm not sure why everyone gets so bent about it.

I wouldn't let any one poster ruin your experience here. It's very easy to ignore posters.

It is a weak counter point. I think people forget if you're here you obviously have a rooting interest in St. John's. I wish everyone who disagreed with someone would respond with something related to the actual topic pertaining to basketball.

I disagree, and it's my belief that IllWill is not a SJU fan, but a troll. They're out there. Just my opinion. He's poisoning this board. I've tried to have rational conversations with him, trying to figure out why he feels the way he does, but he brings nothing to those conversation, just spews ignorance, and attacks other posters who make positive comments about the team. I will try to ignore him from here on out.

I'm not sure I've ever called another human being a troll. Not everyone has the same personality when it comes to rooting for the team. It's evident that the posters you've mentioned have a lot of passion for this team otherwise they wouldn't spend as much time as they do here.

If you don't agree with them thats more than fine but making their posts about them and not their opinion only gets those guys defensive and provokes nonsense. I whole heartedly disagree with illwills post in this thread and I've responded asking him questions about basketball not about him.

Simple.  Enjoy the site and 99% of the posters.  You pollute the site with nonsense.  I am positive that most agree.   Also, can you please respond to whether Lance would have fit Norm's "feel good" culture? thanks

My main issue is I don't see this team winning more than two games the rest of the way, and I couldn't even tell you which two games we will win.  I seriously think we have a legit chance to not win a single game teh rest of the way.  And how will/would that affect the team moving forward?  Will kids transfer? Will recruits shy away?

It won't surprise me if we don't win

So you can't say which games they'll be but you boldly make a prediction? C'mon this is why you get killed by people as being negative. If actually added some substance to your statement then people might take your opinion as valid, might not agree with it, but they could at least understand your logic.

I'd set the bar at a realistic 5 for the under/over with 12 games remaining. Duke and Syracuse are the only guaranteed losses in my opinion while the other games are all winnable.

Wait, what?  I didn't make any bold predictions...I said it wouldn't suprise me or we have a chance to not win another game.  I never said we wouldn't win another game, I implied that it wouldn't surprise me.  What "substance" did I need to add?  Have you not watched this team play?

I'm still confused as to what you were alluding to with your "so you can't say which games" comment.

It's pretty hard to lie about what you said when its in black and white print.

"I seriously think we have a legit chance to not win a single game teh rest of the way."

If that isn't a boldly negative statement with not factual evidence to support it than I don't know what is.

Substance would be you don't think St. John's has enough size to compete with remaining matchups, 9/12 teams remaining on the schedule play zone as their primary defense, etc. (all hypothetical examples) but you didn't and there is plenty of things to counter your empty statement.

As for you now saying it wouldn't "surprise" you if they didn't win thats like saying I'm sorry not sorry. It just doesn't work.

I never lied...you just don't know the definition of a prediction.  I never predicted anything...maybe you should be reading a dictionary instead of my posts

Wow...did your eally need me to explain for the 90th time why I don't think this is a good team? And why I think it's possible we could lose every game?

I didn't realize I was dealing with an ignoramous so I'll break it down for you:

- We had 6 players (I don't count stith)
- Were all new players
- We have no size
- We have no true PG
- Some of our players are regressing
- Our coaching staff is average

- We can't hit outside shots

Happy now?  I'm pretty sure all of that could have been assumed by most people.  Again my apologies for not spelling out what 95% of the posters here know.

Wow...just wow. These two make me laugh out loud. Regressing? Are you serious? They have not even been college players long enough to be regressing. Apparently they have gotten worse since their losses against Detroit and Northeastern?

Yeah we don't have Lavin right now, but most intelligent basketball fans know that our staff is an elite coaching staff.

What team do you actually root for? Rutgers? Seton Hall?

So you think that this coaching staff has done the best job they could with this team?  Your happy with the job Dunlap is doing?  Has GG not regressed?  Is this team still not boxing out?  You happy with the execution at the end of regulation and end of O.T. against Nova?

Did you watch the game against South Florida?  Wow...just wow.

With GG, he's simply playing tougher competition than early on. And I can't say I disapprove of the coaching staff with the hand they are dealt right now. Dunlap is an assistant trying to be a HC, with an inexperienced undermanned team. So Dunlap's not perfect, I admit, but he is not our HC.

I don't care if GG is playing the knicks...to have one rebound at his size in inexcusable.  I agree that the coaching staff was dealt a tough hand, but the two transfers and two ineligibles are on them.  Plus, Dunalp imo has not done a good job as a head coach.  we can agree to disagree on that.

Hey Baldi.. You still not have not answered my Lance question.. Lance could have been great at St Johns and yes of course I would have rooted for him. Same with Landesberg. Lance found a way to get eligible, something which our current staff and recruits have problems with. At 1 point I think 6 out 9 recruits had some uncertainty surrounding them. That is what I have a problem with.

Also, what nonsense are you referring to?

Always found it hard to understand your questioning the current staff for the 2011 class when they had no choice but to reach in order to fill out an ENTIRE roster.  Hard to find a program in the nation dealing with such dire circumstances.  This class followed by our 2012 class will be special.  You have mentioned numerous times that Norm and his kids were easy to root for over the years.  This is true, but Lance would not fall under this category if he joined the team and the future of the program would be abysmal under Norm.

Would Norm or any other potential coaching candidate have fared better this year while also not sacrificing the future by just plugging holes?

Staff sent them to Rise, staff asked Omari to leave along with Stith. Staff couldn't convince Polee or his father to stay. Staff chose not to pursue Ron Roberts. So whose fault is it that there were 9 scholarships available?

Please enlighten on how GG has regressed. I'd love to hear your analysis.

He hasn't regressed. He's not big enough to keep up with a 6'11 big man. After watching Georgetown, USF and Nova that's completely obvious. I think the new staff will be great in the long run, but I said they dropped the ball a year ago when they neglected to recruit a legit big man. (that wasn't a high academic risk)

All excellent points that we are all aware of.  Not much you can do about an overbearing daddy, but I do agree with you about OL and RR in the short term.  Regardless, I would still stick with Lavin going forward even knowing they would leave/be pushed out.  After all they would ultimately be "plugs" and not help develop the future.  O has not seen the court and Ron is playing in the right conference.  You missed Q who in my mind was  under rated and could have been a valuable sub off the bench.

My question was would the present/future be better with Lavin or with Norm/other candidate in your eyes?

Forgot about Quincy. All guys mentioned would have had a ton of experince which is crucial as we have seen.

Obvious answer is Lavin, but he needs to actually coach this team. Not be a GM
