Above is his game log. He's still raw but he's cracking the rotation more and more. What do you like that he brings to the table? What does he need to work on? Who does he remind you of?

Dribble - too high
Defense - reaches way too much
Jumper - has nice form but needs to get inside the 3 pointer.  would love to see him at the foul line against zone

It's tough joining midseason.  I don't expect his shot to come around until next year.  I'm hoping he can spot up and hit a set shot to keep teams honest next year.

He's a really good passer..very unselfish.  I'm really looking forward to him and Dom playing defense full court when we have a full roster next year.  He is a fun player to watch.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

I've always thought he needed some work on his handle and shot from watching him in high school.  I think he really doesn't have a right hand and his handle is kinda loose.  Yes, he does reaches often on defense.

I love his energy and tenacity.  He goes hard on both ends, and is a pretty, solid passer (something I also noticed while he was in high school).  He's probably the best passer on the team.  I think he's very coachable and could end up being a streaky or decent shooter when it's all said and done.

I think its obvious hes getting more comfortable out there. As the game continues to slow down for him he will make more of his shots. Hes a very good athlete and hes got really long arms. They say gift has an 87 inch wingspan, to me it looks like garrett's arms are longer than his, and Moes arms seem to go forever, literally the longest arms I can remember a kid on our team having.

I think garrett can be similar to paris horne for us, in terms of 100% energy and defense and being able to hit the open shot. Hes just got a lot more potential than Paris.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

I like his passing a lot. Also like the way he keeps his arms active and is pretty good at anticipating passes. When he rebounds a lot of time he rebounds very strongly.

He's pretty good at driving to the hoop and can be very acrobatic around there ( nuriesqe )

Outside shot glaring weakness can be worked on. Not crazy about the dribble yet but will get better

Will be a monster in transition and at some point he could lead the break quite effective

I feel he has really shown some positive improvements. I really like the way he plays the game...He plays hard and never seems to take any plays off, like some others do when they are frustrated. He is really athletic and I think he just needs more confidence going to the rim and his mid range jumper

I see some Lavor Postell in his game. The real key will be what he does to work on his game this Spring/Summer.
That's when we'll really know what we have.

Well you can count out him working on his game in the summer because he will be pitching for the Reds remember.

Strengths:  great athlete.  Good rebounder and surprisingly good passer.  Has good vision and knows where to be on the court.  Good first step when going left.  Amir really seems to understand the game well.  He just can't impose his will yet.

Weaknesses:  handle is weak at times and loses the ball a bit too often.  Needs work there.  Shooting has been poor but his stroke looks decent.  Needs more wrist follow through.  Needs to drill shooting All offseason.  He tightens up his shooting and handle a bit, he won't have to think so much in offense and can be a problem for other teams.  Amir by year 3 is going to be real good.

Maybe in rookie ball. But that's a short season.

Playing baseball this summer is really going slow his development. He has a lot of athletic ability but is a physically weak player for a 3 in the Big East.

If he really does throw 96mph as a left handed pitcher and shows any remote potential in baseball this coming summer, I doubt you see him back at St. John's. The Reds made a monster investment for a kid taken that late in the draft, if he is that good they are going to want to protect the investment and could easily ask the kid to not go back to SJU and risk injury playing another sport.

I reality, he should have went straight to baseball and not started his eligibility clock for the NCAA. He could have went to baseball and if after 2 - 3 years it didn't work out; he could have went back to basketball and started all over.

I don't think he is physically weak to play the 3 in the Big East.  I think it just appears that way because everyone is out of position.  When your center is really a PF and your PF is really a SF, the actual SF, that being Amir, has to play bigger and rebound more which I think in terms of rebounding he has done a decent job thus far.  If we had a legit center and GG playing PF, I don't think Amir would look physically weak at all.  Not saying he doesn't need to beef up and get stronger I just wouldn't call him weak

I think if he can develop a slider or changeup he will have a very bright future. 6-6 lefties that throw 96 are few and far between.

He hasn't played much ball.  The more and more he throws the question is will he maintain that heat?

Tall lefties with a decent slider can last forever. Orosco, Rhodes, Plesac etc

Its easier to develop a jump shop than a slider, don't you think?

Harder sport to be a professional?  Baseball or Basketball?

Kid throws 96. I like him, but he has a ways to go as a basketball player and as PMG pointed out his summers are going to be booked. I am pretty confident his career  lies in Baseball.

Tough to say since Amir is already a pro base player. And you got the minors in base and The World in bball.

If you just talkin MLB and NBA and go the most simple of analysis:

30 MLB teams x 25 man roster = 750 players

30 NBA teams x 15 man roster = 450 players

Kid is a hard worker, I am sure he can handle both for 4 years. I think his future is in basketball even if that means Europe. He won't close any doors on himself until he expires his basketball eligibility.
