Phil's had a couple good games in a row now since Branch has been aboard.  Is Branch practicing yet?  If he is, maybe Greene is benefiting from going up against him in practice.

Glad you posted this Gee Whiz because I thought the same thing.  BTW, Branch is practicing with the team.

Tremendous all around game by Phil vs W Virginia. He D Lo and Branch will make a great 3 g rotation next yr and if we get the bigs we hope we are getting Dom and Amir can ply some g to if we want to go big. Also can go to a 3 g line up, Great versatility in our future.

I don't understand all the people who were hating on Greene on twitter and the forums. The kid (like the rest of the team) are freshman, almost everyone is playing out of position, and of course the results are not going to be there every day. What I want to see is progress and learning from mistakes.

He is going to be an excellent third guard off bench second semester next year and can now dispel fears of whether we need a true backup PG. He is going to be instant offense off bench.

I agree with you Celts about Phil being part of our 3 guard rotation next yr.   The fact that him and D'angelo will be fresher, that alone is a huge bonus.  But at the risk of going a little off topic..I think we're all overstating the "bigs" we're recruiting for next year.   I don't mean we're overrating their talent, just their size.   Go big?   None of Obekpa, Gathers, or Shepard are bigger than Gift.
According to ESPN:
R. Gathers     6'7  240
C. Obekpa     6'8  225
W. Shepard   6'8  205
J. Sampson    6'8  200

Even if things fall perfect for us and we get Gathers back and can fight off UCONN for Obekpa ... we're still playing another season without one player over 6'8!

And some of these guys have great length. Obepka is much longer than his height

Wit full respct, dont really care 'bout length neither.

I want a brother who's nasty in the post.

That mean he puts an elbow in your kidney when you tryin to establish position and uses his rear as a momofukuing battering ram to block out.

That's why I take 6'6"-cant-jump-dont-run-fast-and-aint-gonna-block-jack Ty Grant at center over any big we had the last 10 year.

Brownlee was only 6 7. All the above are very talented. They are only in HS and are still growing. I would be very happy if we can land 2 of the above.

And Brownlee wasn't a center either.    If we're being honest he was probably a 3.

I'm not saying length doesn't matter, or a pair of big 'ones and an attitude... I'm just saying it's a lot easier if you have one of two guys who wake up and stand above everyone else on the court.

We've got our priorities... Gathers, Sampson, Obekpa etc.   No doubt.  And we're going hard after them.

I just think we should have a backup plan that includes a big body.

Just because it's not identified on these boards, doesn't mean Lavin & co. don't have a back-up plan in case we don't get the "bigs" currently being discussed.  I trust Lav does, and God knows he's had A LOT of time to pursue recruiting contingency plans this year.

Epitome was Paul Silas, both at Creighton and as a pro.  Cowens / Silas were undersized every night and both wear two championship rings.
