Patterson had 8 threes vs Navy. He should have gone pro after that.

North Florida.

Patterson could have been a very good player.  I'd take him on this team any day of the week.  The kid was a fantastic set shooter, but he must have shot under 10% if he had to dribble or move at all before he shot.  I'll never understand how coaches tolerate letting shooters that can't shoot out of rhythm take those shots.  That and big men trying to get a steal out of frustration 90 feet from the basket after they make a mistake on the offensive end baffle me.

Harrison needs 24 treys with 10 definite games left (including the first round BET). I think they play an extra 3-4 games...2 in the BET and 1-2 in CBI or NIT.

Patterson was lazy. That was his biggest problem. He was an embarrassment on most nights. Once in a while, like against Suracuse, he came up big. Usually, for every 3 he hit, he gave back in another way.

Yo who recruited Dickey Simpkins to Providence?

Barnes?

Yes, but it was a Barnes assistant who brought in that great class of Simpkins, Smith and Phelps

Rob Phelps was a great High School player at Nazareth. Think he got overshadowed though in the CHSAA
Not necessarily I went to Providence College Camp in (91) I believe? guy was a monster in person!
He changed the way I balled back then(as a HS Soph Got selected to practice with the Friars for a week with two other HS players!) No wonder he is a coach now. Relentless!!! had a 50 pt game in HS was like a baby Mashburn?
At one point, Phelps did have the big east tourney record for points he also played with Erick Murdock Trend Forbes, Smith and Simpkins!!!

But its redmen to the end

Kelly didn't play.

Yeah any reason as to why.  Thought they benched him since nothing was mentioned.

Kelly was a late scratch due to a "muscular" injury.  According to Wearedepaul.com, the team's physical trainer thought Kelly's injury wasn't so serious that he could play, but Kelly reportedly told the coach shortly before the game he couldn't go.

Deep thigh bruise, from what I heard.  The same thing that Moe played with and is getting knocked for having an off night.

He was an embarrassment on most nights. Once in a while, like against Suracuse, he came up big. Usually, for every 3 he hit, he gave back in another way.

He holds the records for most threes in a single season and most threes in a game.  Not for most turnovers in a season and most turnovers in a game.

The only embarrassment is your revisionist history concerning the sublime talent that was Avery "3-point record holder" Patterson, his exemplary play and tremendous contribution to Johnny lore.

I didnt like patterson very much. Dont think he was great. But he could hit a wide open three and he was a good rebounder for a guard
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.
