Our bench just got even thinner. Hope everything's alright with his family.

Hope everything is alright with them too.

From a basketball standpoint: What walk-on gets playing time now? Does any, or does Jamal White assume Stith's role?

We are becoming a joke.  Stith wasn't a BE player but we needed him to give the other guys a rest.  We need some good news real bad around here

I dont see how this effects us at all. Stith provided basically nothing. Im sure Jamal White can just take up minutes because thats all Malik did out there, he contributed very very little. He probably wants to focus on his school work because he realizes he will not be a professional basketball players and doesn't playing meaningful minutes.

First, if White could do what malik did he would have been getting minutes.  Second, it effects us because it shines more light on the all the problems going on with the program right now. Malik might have left for great reasons but all onlookers see is a revolving door.

Hysterical.

Look on the bright side. Perhaps Lavs needs the scholarship for the massive recruiting haul coming our way in the spring.  :)

Spin it however you may. This does not "look" good for us.

Wow...wtf....is this April Fool's or what?
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Nothing good about this as far as this year is concerned.

Wasn't Rob Thomas a student assistant last year?

Agree not good for this year.  Outs a lot of pressure on Lavin to have a pretty big spring signing period.  The good part for us is that just about anybody could replace Stith on the court if we have to.  Plenty of NYC kids available in the spring tha we could nab just to fill ships, buti suspect we won't go that direction.  We bring in 4 guys this spring and we're more than fine.  Just hope to see some commits relatively soon.

Honestly I think White could be better than Stith, I just think Dunlap doesn't like him.

What does Stith actually do? he is terrible. White or another walk on can do just as well, not hard to average 2 pts and 1 assist. It's all about the class Lavin can sign for this Spring and how we play next year. I'm not happy about this but it's not a big deal to me, not like this will be all over ESPN.

It wont affect us next year I m sure lavin will bring in another shooter and w 5 guards Stith was only going to get PT as a courtesy. This year we can barely field a team. We need him for depth and his departure doesnt look good. I wonder what motivated him to depart midseason. What Stith could do is handle the ball a lot better then the walkons.

What does it mean to be a student assistant?

Ok, there's not way around this one...This is bad news. Why would he do this at this time? Please Lavs, get us a commitment soon.

You can say what you want about Stith but he seemed like a good kid, who did the best he could. I worried about the culture of the team, it is scary about what is going on.

The scholarship for next year, so what! Dismissing Stith like he was a piece of meat. Hopefully he is okay and deals with the problem, this could not have been an easy decision for all involved.

" Dismissing Stith like he was a piece of meat." =>>> Huh?  I believe Stith staying on as a student worker answers that bogus statement clearly.

I'm not talking about the school, but posters, who are glad we have an additional scholarship next year.
