Marillac - I am sorry but your facts there are a bit off. Lindsey went to Lavin and complained about how he was being used, he was not being replaced by Phil Green. Lavin very politely told him that if he was that unhappy, he should leave.

PMG, I also heard that Lindsey was a malcontent and problem in practice.  It's not just about how he was being used.  Dunlap admitted that Lindsey probably could have been handled with kid gloves had he been there, but nothing that Lavin could do about that.

After the Northeastern game, Phil took over the 1st string of duties in practice.  Phil got the starting nod against Detriot and I believe Kentucky as well.  Phil got 29 minutes to Lindsay's 20 at UK and 33 to Linday's 21 at Detriot.  The direction the team was going was clear and that is when Lindsey did what he does best.

We lost our two worst players.  It's not like Harrison, Moe, or Greene left us.

So lets recruit this guy to lead our team of freshmen?

Dunlap is killing this team.  We need Lavin back immediately.

Lavin should be on the bench during games.  he does not have to be mega demonstrative but he must be a presence. As  coach wooden said "It's the little details that are vital.  Little things make big things happen."

Yet.

I don't know how you can try to frame this as anything but a downward spiral.  This team loses another player or commitment every month.
Enough is enough.

We all want Lavin back, but this season won't be saved by Lavs.  The most important thing he can do is get quality players in here for next year and keep our core here returning next season.

I can't take this crap.  Time for Marillac to take some time away from these boards.  Our fans suck.

This season is starting to resemble a slasher movie where camp counselors get picked off by some masked nut job one by one. First Polee. Then Pelle, Sampson and Garrett. Then coach goes down. It turns out that Garret was only wounded and comes back, but then the killer takes out Nuri. Then the killer even takes out two potential players in Gathers and Wood. Now Stith. At this rate we will go from starting 5 frosh to starting 5 walkons. If slasher movies have taught me anything it is if any of the remaining 6 guys go to take a leak by themselves in a lake or get laid they are toast. I think Lavin should demand the players use the buddy system going forward so none of them are left alone. Of course if they decide to 2 on one a girl or piss in a lake together then we might lose two guys at once.

The solution however is simple. In slasher movies the killer is always the person you least suspect. Using that formula the killer has to be the goofy looking white guy currently coaching the team. I believe at the end of the season he will tear off his face to reveal himself to be Norm Roberts. Coming soon to a theater near you the Amityville Redmen.

of course bring on quality players but that possibility would be enhanced with steve jeffery lavin on the bench.

It's remarkable our fans have been patient this long!    What good has happened to this program in the last 10 months??   1 thing I can think of one thing; Jamal Branch transferring in.   Compare that to at least 12 different negatives from ineligible players, to decommitting recruits, to the transfer of 2 starting players and a third who was our only upperclassman.

And no offense Marillac, but you mentioned earlier in this thread that this team has phenomenal talent and that the goal should be a championship run in 2013/2014.   We are no where close to that.   You speak like all we need to do is add a few role players and this is a deep NCAA caliber team.  It's not.   We need to add major pieces, arguably players better in some cases than anyone we have on the roster now, and you don't find that kind of talent in the spring signing period.   And even if you could we have every reason as a fan base to expect a lackluster recruiting class in another month.   There's no indications that Lavin's class of six contributors is taking form.  More and more that appears like a pipe dream.

I think it is more of a pipe dream for a positive comment ever coming from your computer.

Lavin comes back and he announces Sampson is coming, all this goes away. Simple as that

But what do you think the chances are of those two things happening at this point Baldi?  50/50?    I'd lean towards less.

I'm starting to think Lavin needs to come back simply to ensure that we don't lose any of the five freshmen we have now.

Oh definitely. Thats why i was pissed off all season. These guys are busting their ass on the court, taking their lumps. But everyday, their coach is flying to a new place recruiting? Yo what about me?

I'm not perpetually negative.   But we're coming off of two 20+ point blowouts, a decommitment of a player we've been counting on as a building block for the future, and the second midseason departure for a team with 6 players.

It's not the end of days, but you'd have to agree we're at a bit of a cross roads, no?   The next couple of years for this program turn on the events that occur between now and the end of March.   If Lavin returns, settles the ship,  we sign four recruits and he convinces all the current players to return then the future will continue to be bright.   But more deflections and a lackluster recruiting class could set this program back yet again.   As a fan I just don't want to see that.

Think the NCAA is watching closely?
