I look at Amir
wit his lefty hand,
wit his ability to finish,
wit wanting to do the dirty work,
wit playin D like his life depend on it,
wit swatting away a three-point J,
wit his broad shoulders and wiry frame,
wit hops that know no bounds,
wit his natural ability to pass wit grace

and I see a ll bit of someone else - the greatest role player in the histry of college ball.................

IMO Harrison and Amir are both assassins. Flat out killers. Harrison is ahead on the learning curve but I see qualities in Amir that I see in D.

Amir has learned how and when to put the ball on the floor. His intensity and hustle have been there since day one, but he is refining his game, and it's a pleasure to watch. Taking GG's position has helped this group tremendously. Amir's IQ is high for a freshman forward. He does so much of everything that I think of him as our glue guy.

He will be Lavor Postell in 2012-2013.

After reading post from Choz comparing Amir to Stacey Augmon, I looked at some highlights from Stacey on You Tube and realize that Choz is definitely on the money. Amir can be that type of player. The one who does all the intangibeles.

Lavin said Amir reminds him of Earl Watson and Cameron Dollar.

Thought he said that about Phil Greene...Not like Steve to compare wing forwards to point guards.

Reminded him of them in terms of his hustle and the intensity of his involvement in the game. Said that yesterday at the Red White get together before the game.

Don't want to make too much of a 2 game sample, but Amir is coming on like a bull in a china shop lately.   Can't believe this guy has only played half a season of college basketball.

Most impressive thing he's done recently in my eyes?    14-17 from the line in his last 3 games.     That's a complete 180 from 2 months ago.  Kids working his ass off I imagine.   And it shows.

Let's remember, at this time these kids are no longer freshmen. Even Amir who started late. Too bad we don't have some reserves to give them a blow, or we could really cause some damage in the BET.

That Tark Runnin Reb's group was the best college team I ever saw.  Even if Puke beat em.

Zero chance of beating an Alcindor-anchored team.  Or the first 2 Walton teams.

Those back to back UNLV teams were terrific but they were not very deep especially the 90-91 team that lost to Duke in the National Semi's.  I believe they went about 7 deep bringing Elmore and 1 other player off the bench to supplement the five of LJ, Augmon, Anthony, Hunt and Ackles.

The team that did not win it that to me was as dominant as any especially from a BCS conference (which UNLV was not from) was the 98-99 Duke team that lost only 2 games that entire year and just murdered EVERYONE except SJU in that tremendous game at MSG that year.

They lost to Cincy by 2 at the Great Alaska Shootout final and then ran the table the rest of the year until their loss to UCONN in the National Finals.  37 and freaking 2.  19-0 in the ACC (16-0 regular season 3-0 ACC Tourney).  And just destroyed teams.  And look at that talent, I mean they had a top 5-10 pick on the bench playing 10 minutes a game-Corey Maggette.  Brand, Langdon, Avery, Battier, Nate James, Chris Carrawell etc.

I think he could be a 15 ppg scorer next year. In the last few weeks, he's done a 180 in free throw shooting and driving to the basket/finishing.
If he gets stronger and works on his 3 point shot, I think he could be great.

I think he can be real good too.  When Moe does leave, probably after his soph season, Amir should be ready to go and we'll likely have other options as well.

Yeah,  I was a little too young to remember those teams.  I really only knew Alcindor and Big Red as great pros.

You just can't really compare teams from generation to generation. While Alcindor is who he is, the guard play today would dominate the guard play from that generation. So to say "zero chance" is just not fair.

Lucius Allen and Mike Warren would open a can of Whup-@ss on most backcourts today.  All American Allen was the #3 overall pick in the NBA draft,  All American Warren (whom Wooden said was his best PG ever - he elected for a Hollywood career rather than NBA), was replaced by John Vallely - who was also an All American and the #14 overall Draft Pick in '70.

Tru. They would.

But also Anderson Hunt would drop a trey in Warren's face, autograph the basketball before it hit the floor, run back on D and then steal the ball from Allen and give it to the lil boy in a wheelchair in the front row, earnin an automatic T but that dont matter since '90 UNLV is up 46 pts on '68 Bruins. Book it.

15 is probably a bit unrealistic.  I think the offense will move through Moe and Harrison again, but I could see Garrett having a handful of 15-20 point games, but that is a tough average to hold up for a third or fourth option.  It's the kids like Garrett, Greene, and Pointer that break your back when they are scoring.  He's going to be a good one, though.  He's got "it"whatever that is.
