Bishop Loughlin's Khadeen Carrington and his HS coach are front and center at St. John's v. #UConn game. #stjbb #collegehoops #BigEast

Considering he's being heavily recruited by both, not much we can take from this.

Except he saw the home team win with a pretty nice crowd.
Exactly

Certainly can't hurt.

The only problem I see getting Carrington is that he will be fighting for minutes her at STJ especially if we land Jordan.

UCONN needs players in the worst way at this point in time and at worst he goes to UCONN as the second or third guard with Boatright and Samuel. Napier will be gone by then. Ollie has made Khadeen a priority. We are showing his lots of attention too but we may not be the best fit for him.

Not the end of the world as Lavin can go anywhere to get recriuts

Elite, fearless athlete who is ferocious to the rim.  Staff wants him and mama will help

He would have started for us last night.

Really?
I haven't seen him live.  Just a couple of games on YouTube.  He hasn't wow'ed me yet.

To me he is the ideal impact scoring guard built for March basketball.  The perfect fit with the athletic wings Coach will always have here.  I like him over Whitehead.  Easy for mom to get to from Canarsie, and many more Trinidadian students then in Storrs.

Ouch.  Over Whitehead?  Thats a little much.
Who would you compare his game to most?

6'2 combo guard, athletic, attacks the rim, lefty. Can I get a Darius Johnson odom?
Not yet, Darius jumpshots was light years better

Remember though I'm assuming you only saw Darius for his 2 yrs at Marquette since he was a JUCO.  So thats a big difference from Carrington now as a JR in HS.

If im not mistaken I think DJO was one of the rare jucos who came in as a soph. Like nuri.

I have only seen Carrington a few times, but like him. That said, Whitehead is in another class IMO. You can never judge from one game, but Carrington did have a great game against Rysheed Jordan earlier in year. All in all, I suspect Carrington would be a solid player for SJU.

"Vaux vs. Bishop Loughlin (NY)
In was a milestone night for Bishop Loughlin senior Khadeen Carrington, and it was capped off with a 74-56 blowout win over Vaux.

"Carrington, a highly-recruited combo guard from Brooklyni, recorded his 1,000th career point on a free throw in the third quarter. He scored 30 points on the night, displaying why he has come to be such a coveted prospect.

Carrington went toe-to-toe with Vaux senior Rysheed Jordan, who much like Carrington, has also caught the eye of many big time programs.

However, it may have been Jordan’s foul trouble that sealed the game for the Lions. After Jordan scored 13 of Vaux’s 22 points in the first half, he committed his fourth personal foul with five minutes left in the third quarter. Vaux coach Vic Otarola was forced to pull Jordan from the game with his squad trailing by five.

Bishop Loughlin took advantage of Jordan’s absence, ripping off a 16-7 run before Otarola subbed Jordan back in after just three minutes in fear of letting the game get out of hand. The Lions shot the lights out in the third quarter, scoring a whopping 34 points as opposed to Vaux’s 18.

A game that was once a one-point deficit for Vaux at halftime proved insurmountable following Bishop Loughlin’s third quarter surge. 21 of Carrington’s 30 points came in the second half".

“@NYPost_Brazille: Spoke to Bishop Loughlin's Khadeen Carrington briefly for my column tomorrow. St. John's, FSU, Cincy and UConn 4 schools in mix right now.”

“@NYPost_Brazille: Carrington plans to visit UConn and Florida State after season, said he talks to Kevin Ollie and Steve Lavin a lot. #stjbb”

Carrington talks frequently with St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and UConn head man Kevin Ollie and plans to take visits after the season. He attended UConn's "First Night" event and was in attendance Wednesday at the Garden when St. John's knocked off the Huskies.
“I’m open to going away, part of me is saying I want to stay home so family can watch me play,” he said. “Wherever is the best situation for me. I want to go somewhere where I can show my talent, they’re going to develop me as a player and as a person.”

Big pull for SJU.  He would be great under Lavin here in front of family.  Imo seems like we have more than a good shot.  I think uconn lead until Lavin stepped it up.  My gut tells me different now.  Uconn isn't the same, and if there was any proof, it was the SJU game where we beat them and they had few fans at the garden...

The kids on the floor tell the story.  Striking talent gap between the two programs.  KO had better get himself some players

You think the talent gap between us and UCONN is that big?  Maybe in the front court, although Daniels is talented and just had a bad game.  But Calhoun could easily get minutes on our squad, and Napier/Boatwright is probably the third best back court in the Big East.

Uconn has feasted on NYC for '13 unfortunately for Ollie this is one of the weakest classes in the past decade, facey, samuels, Fuchs all overrated

Agreed.  Though I think Daniels is overrated

Funny they are saying Fuchs wasn't 'recruited' so he can go on Football schollie and walkon with no problems :)

I've seen Both Facey and Samuels and both IMO are not big timers.  Facey has some size and length but is soooo raw.  Samuels is raw too.  Neither is a Boatright nor Napier.  For that matter neither is a Daniels.  I don't think uconn is headed for any glory with their current level of recruitment.  Carrington IMHO would be making a wise choice to consider staying home for SJU and playing in front of family for a coach and in a conference with IMO much more upside than Ollie, uconn and the future CUSA East alongside Facey and Samuel.  It's purgatory..

If Napier and Boatwright are back next year -- and I'm saying "if" because everyone talks about our better players leaving early, even when not ready, so why not UCONN's -- they will be a good team with the potential to be very good.

No doubt this is the least inspiring UCONN roster in a long time and 2013-2014 roster will be even worse if Napier leaves. I just don't see Ollie having the level of success that will please the UCONN fans on the recruiting trail and additionally the conference he will be left with is not good.

Tough times ahead for UCONN in my opinion.

Feasted?  That's like a $5.99 All-you-can-eat buffet.  Let him have as much as he wants.

Hopefully he saw how disinterested Napier looked out there and it will turn him off.

Tough job for Ollie following a legend.  It rarely ends well especially since the admin didn't appear to want to hire Ollie to begin with.
