Hopefully he saw how disinterested Napier looked out there and it will turn him off.

Tough job for Ollie following a legend.  It rarely ends well especially since the admin didn't appear to want to hire Ollie to begin with.

I'm not sure how good he is as a coach... But Ollie is going to get kids .  He is apparently very well liked and the contract has now solidified the recruiting.

CTK beat Loughlin again;

“@eliovelez: @NYPost_Brazille Severe had 18, Carrington 12, mike Williams with 19 for Loughlin.”

Good spot for Carrington's sidekick;

“@NYPost_Brazille: I'm told Manahttan College HC Steve Masiello personally offered Bishop Loughlin junior guard Mike Williams.”

“@NYPost_Brazille: Smart move by Manhattan. Williams is under-recruited, a few coaches told me who recently saw him including one HM coach.”

Its going to take some time but it only takes one. Ask Calhoun how much Tate George meant to his program.

"Carrington (28 points) and Mike Williams (19 points) would finally begin to carve into LuHi's lead at the beginning of the third quarter, the Crusaders only held a 35-31 advantage. That lead would evaporate as the duo of Carrington and Williams gave the Lions their lead."

Severe and the Royals will try to get their third win this season over Bishop Loughlin in Friday’s Diocesan final; Christ the King won both games by one point.

In the first semifinal, Loughlin routed Archbishop Molloy, 85-49, behind a combined 50 points from junior guards Michael Williams (26 points) and Khadeen Carrington (24).

The 6-3 Carrington, meantime, said he’s focusing on St. John’s, UConn, Cincinnati and Florida State, although he holds offers from many other schools.

“I went to a couple games,” the junior said, referring to a visit to UConn. “I’m going to start taking visits after the season.”

Asked where he’d like to visit, Carrington said, “Florida State, I’m going to visit Cincinnati and I’m going to take a visit to St. John’s, too.

Would you agree that your earlier comment about Lavin and the staff acting as if he is recruiting at UCLA was off base and that people sometimes read too much into a recruiting report?

Mind your business.  It is a valid question.

I am half joking but again he directly asked me to explain why I don't agree with his assessment of how Coach recruits.  I see no issue after this comment with asking my current question. And in fact I would be derelict in my duty as JJ provocateur if I did not respond as such... ;D

No reason to be a dick to paultz.  I said I think he uses a laid back approach.  We don't hear about him being all over this kids.  Some coaches are texting, calling, basically stalking these.  Could I be wrong, sure I know nothing about what really happens.  I asked to enlighten me not as a jerk, but because I was really curious.  I'm the first to admit when I'm wrong.

Whoa, who took the first shot at who?  How am I the dick, did he not start this?  And I was half joking...

Secondly you talk about texting and calling, that is precisely my point.  Unless they are committing a NCAA violation nobody knows for sure what ANY coach is doing.  Lavin knows how to recruit, he knows who to target, who is ultimately interested and how to land them.  He is not 100% successful;, no one is.

Orlando Sanchez is a perfect example.  Auburn was all over him, Barbee even used his old mentor and Sanchez' old DR National Coach John Calipari to get him to Auburn.  But Lavin won out.

For anyone who is interested they are replaying the CTK vs Loughlin on MSG varsity at 9.  Good chance to catch Carrington, Severe, Williams and CTK has a super freshmen in Rawle Alkins.
