Chiles is everywhere. Guy works his tail off.Hines has been out more with Chiles this year than in past years.Martin I don't believe gets involved.

That's just silly. From everything I've heard, chiles is an awesome recruiter. If we are in the top 2 for Carrington, I think Lavin can win him over potentially pplaying in front of family, in a REAL league that has stability, good roster around him etc. sounds like the staff views him as a must get and I think he is likely a very good start for 2014 if we can land him.

Yeah, 2014 is crucial with the loss of Sampson (most likely) and Sanchez. Throw in one other from left field and staff has a challenge. I will trust they know that better than me and are on top of it. Agree, Carrington will be a decent prospect to build on. He has some work to do, but at this point worth the risk IMO.

Need an open scholarship.

Good coaches that run good programs can keep it going like that. The kinda thing Beilein did when he was able to bring in Gansey. It's a lot easier having some kids who know whats expected around for 4 years then always be chatting a kid up for the next level.

I guess I should assume the best. Why assume the best, when it's easier to assume the worst and continue to bash staff?Assuming the best and rooting for SJU has been a losing proposition for a long time. One of the problems to me has been the lack of information throughout. There are so many question marks connected with the program and that plus the spotty results has led to natural doubts. Good news travels fast and bad news gets stifled. Things like why Lindsey, Polee and Stith left right up to Harrison's suspension don't have to be classified to protect the program if they make sense. I think it's important to clear the air for future players and fans who invest their money in the program. It's the old "honesty is the best policy" thing and with the breaking of the Chang story I'd like to see the athletic program rise above the other suspect areas of the University. I think Lavin is basically an honest guy and I'd like to have some things to point to to support that notion. I can live with the questionable personnel and coaching moves but the secrecy bothers me. We've had some outrageous surprises over the years and I'd like to think we're beyond that at this point.
In 2014, we will have Sanchez, Marco, Gift and probably JaKarr scholarships becoming available. And three of them are frontcourt. Obekpa could also go. Only returning frontcourt guy would be Christian Jones.Would you guys redshirt Felix and Christian Jones next season given the full roster we'll have?
