Lose, lose, lose, we're great at losing...

This basketball program cannot sustain ANYTHING positive for very long.  All they consistently do for the most part is fail.

Can you go away ASAP..you are beyond annoying

After this season, and with the current recruiting class looking very underwhelming right now, I'm sure not looking forward to next season which could be nearing Lavin last at St. John's if he doesn't start turning things around next season for the better.  EX:  St. John's better at least make the NIT next year otherwise I think Lavin is on his way out.  What another BRUTAL season for St. John's IN EVERY WAY both on and off the baketball court.

We have far too many dreamers on this board who continuously defend losing, failing and underachieving.
you could be the worst poster in the history of the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if you were related to realfan.  How come you didn't post during the game ?

You're a f'ing clown.  Make a promise, when Lavin has this rollin', and he will bank on it, you will never ever post again and as gman says you will crawl back under your rock from whence you came.

And when will "Lavin have this rollin"?  When will that be?  After this season, how much longer do you think he has?  I say 2 more years and if he doesn't turn it around in two years than he's gone.

St. John's for the most part has become a perennial failing and losing basketball program over the past 2 decades.  Even when St. John's has a rare good victory, than they always almost immediately fail all over again and disappoint us.

All I kept thinking to myself tonight was "how are we going to blow this one"?  and we blew it...  That's what happens when a team becomes a perennial loser.  EX:  They find ways to lose rather than find ways to win.  "It is what it is" and all I'm doing is reacting to the continuous results.  I didn't create this.  I'm not responsible for it, and I wish it would finally change, but it doesn't.  "It is what it is", and it's rarely good anymore unfortunately.

Glad I can vent since my wife doesn't understand.  Harrison, despite the 3 from 6 feet behind the three-point line, seemed flat.  Looked like he hadn't slept the night before.  And Harkless, well if he intends to play in the NBA he should be able to create and score against Rutgers at will.  We couldn't make our freethrows.  Anyway, I enjoyed this team this season, my expectations managed right out of the gate, and I have high hopes for next year if Lavin can bring in some key reinforcements.  If anyone thinks this has been a lost season or disappointing season they don't appreciate that we play in the BE and that PT & experience are crucial.

Like others, I would have preferred a shot at Villanova in the BE tourney.  But as a gauge for growth, and an interesting look into Dunlap's coaching ability, we'll be able to see how we rebound against a team that just blew us out.  Ever the SJU fan, I'll say Pitt should be nervous.
Can you change your name to something other than Lapchick ? Or let me apologize in advance because every time I see this lapchick1 guy post I get everyone confused and I don't want to attack you by accident. lol

I guess that is the way it goes. We've won a few close games against Rutgers lately, they got one tonight. Hopefully we lay it all on the line for Pitt. I don't love the match-up though. I was salivating to get Nova again because I think we could handle them.

Lapchick1 is going a little overboard, I agree with that.

But, if Lavin doesn't make it happen with recruiting and then have these guys actually qualify STJ is going to have problems.  I'm just hoping he can pull it off.

The team stinks again?
Lost by one on the road to another big east team, with six players, only one not a freshman.
I just think its very unfair even if understandable after a loss.
They are far from stinking up the conference. The team overall  has one significant flaw in my view, not enough players.
When we add three or four decent players this year and play a handful of games, added to our experiences this year,we will finally substitute to avoid fatigue and even play a variety of defenses. Even average role players will make this core formidable...I would expect them to break even in conference.
I believe we have two conference stars already, so If we pick up 2or3 top talent this year, we will be in the top six in the big east next year.  I really don't even think that,s optimistic based on this core's performance as freshmen.
Throw in a "present" coach and who knows...lots of positives this year and more should be expected from this fine nucleus of talent.

The difference between many of you and myself is that YOUR IN CONSTANT DENIAL, and I'm being honest in the results for the most part over the past 20 seasons.  I've decided to stop defending a losing program.  I'll continue to root for St. John's to win with all my heart and to finally turn things around, but I also realize how unlikely that is and has been for the better part of 20 seasons now.  We've become celler dwellers, that's what we are.  "You are what your record says you are"  (-Bill Parcells)

Lavin got off to a great start, than unfortunately became ill, lost a number of recruits and players and we're in trouble again.

I wouldn't switch places with Rutgers going forward.  We were the more talented squad, but lack of boxing out and FTs killed us.  Hope the team is fired up for the BET

Team is running on fumes yo.
They worn down.

Fumes, foul trouble. and Mo at 50 %

mjmaherjr has been reading my mind.  But I think Lapchick1 should change his name.  I am a real SJU guy, bleed red & white.  Maybe in some twisted way the fact that we both have Lapchick in our poster names restores balance to the universe!

But if others think I should change my name I will.  If I come up with a new one can the moderator change it for me so I don't have to reregister?

I agree that "not having enough players" is our biggest current flaw.  However, who's fault is that?

Also, where are more recruits that are going to turn things around next season COMING FROM?  Who are they?  Where are they?
