Larry Brown reportedly in SMU mix. Mr. Rolling Stone if he gets the job will be looking for a new one by halftime of first game. Rediculous!

And SMU will be on Probation and banned from Post-season.

Larry Brown's NEVER left a college coaching position with the school in any other condition.

I cannot believe that they would hire a 71 year old man but they are talking.  Apparently Brown wants to bring former Tennessee HC and current UNC-Wilmington coach Buzz Peterson as a successor in waiting.

Oh no doubt.  Considering how drawn out this has been and how many guys have said no, whoever he hires better pan out and quickly or Mr. Orsini is going to be unemployed very soon.  This is the type of hire that makes or breaks a AD.

I would have thought a guy like John Phelfrey would go after that job hard.

Apparently Brown is close to signing with SMU.  But get this, he is trying to leverage his talks with SMU to get the position he really covets, coach and GM of the Portland Trail Blazers:

He's really a paper bag.  If I was president of SMU, I'd fire the AD now for getting them into this position.  Suddenly Doh doesn't look so bad.

According to Goodman, the AD Orsini is actually opposed to Brown.  It is being forced down his throat by higher ups at SMU who want a name to sell to the money people.

I don't get the Spike Lee reference, maybe I missed something (I know he is a Knicks fan).

Spike Lee is a NY sports fan. LIU is located a stone's throw from the new Barclay's Arena. I'm sure he would enjoy a major college program playing in his backyard.

Spike is a season ticked holder at LIU and was present when their seeding for the NCAA tournament was announced. And it is official LIU will play some games at Barclay.

I think we dodge one with them not bring in a big name to coach  I saw a perfect storm forming. If you added let's say Orlando Antigua to Barclay,  Jay-z , Spike Lee , one stop away from Manhattan. Yikes!
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"
