If true, this is a huge honor in a top notch conference with 16 teams worth of freshmen to compete with.  Hopefully that is a prelude to a conference player fo the year next year!   Congrats Moe!

Great honor for Moe and terrific for the program to have a kid from NY stay home and win it.

That said, not to belittle him--but really think him and 3'Lo should have shared the honor at the least.

He's going to win it. Only rival would be D'Angelo and then Drummond who doesn't touch either.

Agreed 100%.  I love Mo.  But DLo is an assassin.  I think DLo's attitude may have not helped him.

Fantastic Job Moe!   Only fitting that the man who opened the floodgates for our recruiting efforts for this year's class gets the nod as RoY.  Gotta think that D'Angelo was a close second.  Both should be extremely proud of their rookie seasons, as should the rest of our guys.

Represents the university and program so well. Good for him. So many sissies before him left the city to pursue a life of crime in other cities. Moe stayed here, and if he comes back he'll be an All American.

Moe's double doubles put him head and shoulders above D'Lo. It's pretty simple in my eyes.

Congratulations to my favorite player, Maurice Harkless.  Johnny nation is so very proud of you and appreciates the above and beyond outstanding effort you gave this season under trying circumstances.  Keep fighting the good fight and great luck in the tournament.

Nice little mention of Moe and D'lo on ESPN under the heading "Five Players to Watch" in the Big East Tourney:

Moe Harkless, St. Johns: If you want to see the future of the league, watch Harkless. The talents of the Red Storm freshman -- and his compatriot, D'Angelo Harrison -- have been lost in the upheaval of this St. John's season, but Harkless is the real deal.
