see zagsblog for complete story but it seems as tho norm was recruiting southerland and ron chose to call syracuse to alert them he was a syracuse fan.  what a pathetic man.  no wonder with his credentials and contacts no division 1 program would touch him with a 10 foot pole.

i saw that too.  my initial reaction was like yours.  but then i thought:  Jim Boeheim or Norm Roberts??  I think the answer is obvious.

So RN was lookin out fo the best interest of his player (who dreamed of SU) rather than his alma mater.

That a bad thing?

Parking only for NYCHA permit holders.

No but he hasn't exactly been an SJU supporter either.  Hey, whatever turns him on.

When I saw the headline and the author, I figured it was something about Ron telling his players to avoid Providence.

I've been a St. John's fan for 30 years, and I wouldn't have sent any of my stars to play for Norm.

So ya send them to play for a guy who defends pedophiles?

At the time, I wouldn't have known he was a pedophile. But at least Ms. Fine would have helped look after him.

Don't blame Naclario. Blame Harry. He is the only reason why all of us have suffered for so long. He is the ultimate SJU traitor. If Southeland had any interest at all in SJ, we'd have had a shot. At least he didn't waste our time, like those two girls did.

The belief that Naclerio is a master coach is perpetuated mainly by Ron Naclerio himself.  I'm not saying the guy is not a good coach, but he sells himself as this hoops guru whenever he can.  He is good enough to be a coach in college, but his personality will keep him from ever realizing that dream.

It should never be a coaches decision where the player plays it should always be the players. Most people here hate the fact that they think Brewster is pushing players to Kansas. Just saying cant have it both ways

He's an educator and leader of young men. Not a pimp.

Some kids don't have high school coaches who will pick up a phone and call a college coach. Southerland landed into a great situation for himself and clearly he's very happy with his decision. Kudos to everyone that aided him in the recruiting process.

He sent us Darryl Hill. It's not his fault that we accomplished nothing with him.

My daughter used to come home and tell me about Show and Ryan's exploits after each Dozo game.  Too bad they didn't repeat it at St. john's.

Hill was on his way but suffered the knee injuries. Ryan Williams was a special athlete who I believe did what he was capable of doing at the d1 level.

Ryan is an incredible athlete but, unfortunately, he had no perimeter game.  He would have done well in Lavin's up-tempo offense but he couldn't much damage in Norm's slow down half court offense.

There was no perimeter game when Williams player here.
