Coach Lavin debating the zone w/ Barkley

Coach Lavin debating the zone defense with Charles Barkley on the half time show.  Barkley claimed it was easy to play against.  Coach disagreed and discussed all the things you can do out of a zone..

Lav: I might have to hire Charles as a part of my staff.

Charles looks like a fireman after the Patty's Day parade, must have partied last night.

+1.

Gotta love seeing Lavin on national tv during March Madness, doing his thing like he never missed a beat from his ESPN days.  I know Norm was on TV during the tourney too, but Norm NEVER came across like Lavin.

They put Lavin directly in the center. If memory serves me correct jay Wright was to the right.

Thats a big recruiting tool. lol

Choz, Kenny is as bad a dresser as he was terrific a player. Seems like he owns nothing but over-sized, cheesy-looking suits. Wish someone (maybe Jay Wright?) would introduce him to Giorgio Armani.

An underrated aspect of coach Lavin.  He really builds friendships with these kids that last.  It is IMO his best quality as a coach and can allow him to build a really special bond with SJU players and fans.  Certainly college basketball is about winning games, but the other aspects are what set programs apart.  Hopefully success on the court followS for a long time.

No doubt even if Lavs thinks Moe needs another year, if Moe decides NBA is the way he wants to go, he'll lobby as hard as anybody.  I think seeing Moe there might be an indicator.

I think you're right.  Coach was probably introducing Moe to people and lobbying for him.

I love how *EVERY* time they mention Lavin, it's "St. John's coach Steve Lavin." Further reinforcement to recruits that he'll be back.

Another scenario might be getting Moe to speak to non-biased former NBA players, like Barkley.  I've heard Charles over an over this weekend say that almost all the underclassmen should stay in school.  The only guy he said should go is Anthony Davis and the only reason for him going was that he would be the number 1 pick.
