This kid would be a weapon. It seems like every other school has some specialist they can pull of the bench to launch threes. Why not us? We have the slashing wings and wide open style to get this kid plenty of open looks. He's a long 6'6/6'7 kid that could be hidden in our zone while he develops his foot speed.
He'd be invaluable in practice and he'd be a kid that the defense would HAVE to mark up and defend 25 feet from the basket, stay in contact with while he runs in and out of screens, and not switch off during screens. It's very tough to do that with a kid like D'Angelo on the floor. A truly sick shooter has such a wide-ranging impact on the game...he causes his opponents to close out recklessly, doesn't allow his defender to help at all--which, in turn, makes it exponentially easier for a Branch or Garret to get to the basket...a shooter doesn't allow his defender to crash the boards and causes problems in transition.
Also, how many missed threes result in offensive rebounds? A much higher % than other missed shots.
