I believe Dunlap would be replaced by Mo Hicks, our current DOBO. Lavin promised him that when hired. The question might be, who do we hire as the next DOBO and who becomes the X and O specialist on the bench?

If Dunlap were to leave, Mo Hicks would not be taking that spot on the staff.

I doubt Coach Dunlap would get the HC spot with the Bobcats.  They need to bring in a more pro experienced coach to try to right that ship.

I also believe that Coach would make an excellent AHC in the pros.  Coaching in the pros has both its rewards ($$$) and its problems (players' personalities).

I think Coach Dunlap's future, whenever he decides to leave us, is in the college ranks.

No way, Mo Hicks replaces Coach Dunlap.  Each of Coach Lavin's assistants has an expertise- X and Os, recruiting, conditioning, etc. Coach Lavin would recruit a top notch X and O's coach to fill that position.

Not sure if he gets the head coaching job, but if I were an incoming head coach with little experience Mike Dunlap would be the very first person I'd call.  The guy is just outstanding.  Having said that, I hope he stays.  Lavin and Dunlap are a perfect coaching fit.

Some would argue that the NBA is a better fit since he is more interesting is devising plans as opposed to pounding the pavement recruiting.

Right. So you think Dunlap and his clipboard would work in NBA?

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea.  He's not a recruiter and that is a lot of the college job.  He's a basketball mind so why not empart his wisdom at the highest level.

I think many here are overlooking that Coach Dunlap has already had successful stints coaching at the professional level, both in the NBA and in Australia.

I hope he doesn't get it not because I'm selfish but because it's the Bobcats and he'll be out on the street in three years because Jordan has no clue how to assemble a roster.

Since the Bobcats have now contacted Stan van Gundy and Brian Shaw, can we all breathe a sigh of relief that Dunlap stays with us at least one more year(?)

Not surprisingly (to me), Patrick Ewing has been eliminated from consideration.
