We'll play both defenses, no question.   But for the time being it certainly looks like we'll play a lot of zone, and full court pressure as well.
We have a team of good athletes but no true big man, and half court offense isn't our strength, so different zones are our best option most of the times this season.

Down the road, I could see us playing more man when we have different personnel.

Also, not really interested in Keady becoming an assistant, and baring some kind of surprising bad news I don't see it happening.   Dunlap didn't recruit a lot, but why handcuff yourself by hiring an assistant who will NEVER recruit?   Doesn't make sense to me.
Plus, you can give lip service to the rules, but I think we get the full benefit of Keady's input now without having to list him as an assistant.   Not sure what more he would do as an assistant.

We do have a true big man now in Obekpa.  if you mean a true big man as in Rik Smits style, then you are correct.

Chris is Scouts #63, Rivals #58 - has St. Johns had a higher rated center prospect since the internet rating services began?

Like the Smits reference! :)  For older Knick fans, it's like we coulda had another Ray Felix, but got stuck with the undersized Bill Russell  :2funny:

Hey, you going to make it to USF game?

I looked for tickets when it was first annoued but USF hadn't made them available yet, and then I went away for the summer and forgot to look again. If I can get some I'm definitely going.

I am going to Napa first with mjmaherjr. If you want, I'll ask the school for ticket(s) for you and you can pay me at the game or hopefully we can get together before then while we are in Northern California.

I saw flights for that weekend are only 300...

Flights are usually cheap. For me flying into Oakland always cheaper than San Francisco. It's a great city, hope you consider coming.

I live 5 mins from the USF campus.  I'll definitely be there and I'm willing to help coordinate a pre-game get together at a local pub.  I'll send out a post when the game is approaching.

That's great. It was a fun time when I saw the team play there in Felipe's freshman year although we almost blew a 20 point lead to the Don's  >:(

Thanks, it would be great if you could do that. I suspect we will have at least 20 message board people there

Yes that's one game.  I also went to Providence where we won.
You also did a nice double last year of Kentucky and Detroit :)

It is always cheaper but you get hammered on the taxi ride from Oakland to SF.

AirBart shuttle to BART to downtown SF is a smooth ride if you aren't lugging a ton of bags.

I was on Arguello. I could see half the USF campus from my roof . . . yet St. John's waited until I left to play a game there.

At least they are heading back out here.  Were you at the St. Mary's game two years ago?
I was thinking Buckshot or Irelands as good pre-game spots but they may get flooded with a pro-USF crowd.

I was at the St. Mary's game. I like their program and they have great fans up there, so I've been meaning to take in more of their games.

I was actually going to suggest Irelands. The shepherd's pie is tasty and the owner is a great guy. There will be hot women at Buckshot, but I'm 41 so I won't be getting anywhere with them. But even if I did, my wife might frown upon it.
