What are the odds we join ACC?

I have seen lots of rumors that they may be attracted to the real NYC market (not Rutgers or Cuse) and the prospect of having MSG.

I for one would never want to see my favorite college basketball team join Another Common Conference! :tickedoff: :knuppel2:

So what's the plan when UConn, Nova, G'Town, and L'Ville all leave?

The ACC has already lost its identity.

No, it's still the college bb best basketball conference in the solar system.

Still? It hasnt been for a while...Teams may, in fact, continue to exit the BE...But, if a TV deal can get done, there is an opportunity to re-solidfy the conference...

If we were invited to the acc, we should jump at the chance.  Period.   Id wager theyd go after us, nova, and gtown to essentially have every major city up the east coast, an 18 team basketball conf, 14 football, and if ND ever joins in football, they get nova to go fbs.

The funny thing is you could have an old big east division!  St johns, gtown, nova, syracuse, pitt, bc, miami, va tech, notre dame....acc would salivate over msg conf title game, or even rotate nyc, dc, atlanta.   Plus wed be with most of our old rivals.

I don't know that either Ratface or Williams would salivate over an ACC tournament that wasn't played in NC. Since 1990 only 4 championships have been played outside of NC. Since 1990 one championship played in NC has been won by a team not from NC. This year's tournament - in GA - yielded an ACC champion from Florida. That's not going to be lost on as devious a rodent as is Screwshrenski and Williams may blunder to the same conclusion if somoeone points him in that direction and pushes, because he doesn't seem vert bright. It goes without saying that playing in Greensboro - which has a higher seating capacity than MSG - is a huge advantage for NC and dOOk: 16 championships between them since 1990, 14 won in NC. Whether K and Williams have enough pull to designate venues I don't know and it may be that the exposure outweighs those concerns. But considering the nightly deep throat the ACC will be getting from ESPN I don't think publicity will be much of a concern.

I would be thrilled to have St. John's as part of the ACC.

Duke FILLS MSG as we know.  UNC not quite as much.  I am sure Coach K would be fine playing there...provided he wasnt worried about st johns or syracuse in that particular year.  ;)

I personally don't see this happening but if it did, it would be the final dagger in the hearts of the Big East

I would suspect that if it did it would be interesting to see if the Big East survives or just fill up other conference like a10, CONF USA, and Pac 12

Hey kid, has any major football conference ever gone after non-div. one football schools?

Only schools ACC would target would be Rutgers or Georgetown. A long shot would be Nova but most likely not because they wouldn't accept them in for football. UConn doesn't meet the academic standard for the ACC.

The ACC will add another school, no chance they stay at 15.

As for Big East the key is Louisville. If they leave the conference is toast.

Of we joined the ACC it would be hard to hate it with the passion that I do. Also, the ACC is a southern conference.
