Spoke to a friend of mine today who is a member of a book club. A fellow member happens to be a scout with the LA Lakers. Told my friend that he saw a workout of the ST John's team and he stated that the holdovers will be hard pressed to retain playing time as he really likes the newcomers. Guess this is what we all kind of figured or at least hoped for but since we haven't really seen much of the new guys this kind of confirms what we all hoped for.

This could also mean the "holdovers" didn't improve as much as we hoped they would during the off-season (However, I can't believe that is the case).  I guess we will all see soon enough.

Guess I owe some of you an apology for having a friend who is a member of a book club. This friend happens to be 68 yearss old and is the most well read person i have ever heard of as he usually is reading 3-4 books at a time. He also has a great memory for what he reads while i on the other hand am lucky to remember what I read earlier in the day in the tv listings. Actually I do have a sense of humor and realize yuz guys are just kiddin. Have at it-just thought all might be happy to hear a positive early evaluation of the new guys by a creditable evaluator.

Good discussion starter Celtics, thanks for passing that along.

Not entirely surprising to hear.  If you think about it we only return 4 guys:  D'angelo is locked in as a starter, but most of us expect Branch to takeover for Phil once he becomes eligible.   I've said numerous times I  think God's Gift becomes even more of a role player now that Sanchez and Obekpa here.     And while Jakarr isn't really a replacement for Amir or Dom... (they'll probably play together in different combinations) ..I don't think anybody would be that surprised if Sampson started from day 1 and "out-shined" the other wings.

I don't think that's fair. Good or bad Gift was a part of our team last year. He certainly counts. We clearly return 5 guys, and all 5 have experience playing in the BE.

Won't get a mocking out of me: All my female friends are in them, and they are filled with hot women.

Although one friend is in one that reads nothing but mommy books, which would make me want to kill myself.

Haha you are correct Posion.   That wasn't intentional.
We do return 5, and I wouldn't be surprised if 4 of them were starting in the first game (including Gift).
But I think by mid-season Branch and Sampson are definitely starters, and either Sanchez or Obekpa as well.

I think Gift starts two games tops -- maybe the first one and definitely Senior Night.

Let's not be so insensitive we can't have a laugh once in awhile.  There was no need for clarification Celtics 11 and PMG,  we know humor
when we see it.  And thanks for the info, can't wait to for the season to start.

Agree, but might I add that we should not be so sensitive either. :) :) :)
