http://hsnewyork.scout.com/2/772159.htmlGerardo Suero, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound shooting guard from Our Savior New American in Centereach, N.Y., has been showcasing his skills with Mickey Walker's Upstate Basketball Club at the Reebok Summer Championship in Las Vegas while he awaits word on his qualifying status
.
"We're waiting to hear back from the (NCAA) Clearinghouse to see if he's going to be qualified or not," said Eric Jaklitsch, an assistant coach at Our Savior New American and one of Suero's coaches with the New York Elite AAU team.
Suero is being monitored by Memphis, DePaul, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Providence,
St. John's, Washington St., UCLA, Marquette, and USC, according to Jaklitsch.
"Those are the schools that are actively recruiting him right now," said Jaklitsch.
A slasher with good body control and the ability to get to the rack, Suero averaged 31 points per game as a senior at Our Savior.
"He's a wing guard who gets to the basket and scores," said Jaklitsch.
p.s. - It appears this kid is really "elevating" his game right now & he could be a good alternative if we miss on our top targets at his position for '09. Unfortunately, it appears his academic situation is very much in question at this point.... From what i hear though he is a nice kid who comes from a good family. Wherever he ends up i wish him the best of luck.
