I think Pittsburgh at 6 is nuts. I don't care how good their freshman center is, it's unlikely he's ready to go in year one. They were a bad team last year, that lost their best player and shooter.
Give me a break, they aren't DePaul. Yes they were bad last year that was AFTER 10 straight NCAA Tourney's, 4 BE
regular season titles and 2 BE Tourney titles, 6 BE Tourney final appearances, 2 times a no. 1 seed, once a no. 2 seed, 3 times a 3 seed.
They still have a terrific roster and a terrific coach. Most would see last year as an aberration.
Bottom line is Pitt has earned the benefit of the doubt.
I didn't say they were Depaul. I said they were overrated. That said, Depaul actually returns more than Pitt, and these rankings are asking a lot of Pitt's incoming freshman. Who is coming back for Pitt that anyone is afraid of? Is it just Jamie Dixon? I don't deny that he's a great coach, but almost every program goes through a down period at
one point or another.
There are a lot of unknowns in Pittsburgh.
Enough with the returning stuff. DePaul has returned a lot the last few years, that has not stopped them from finishing dead last every year.
Couple of more things. There is no one who looks at Pitt's roster and DePaul's returning starters or not and thinks it is even close.
Secondly being picked 6th is not exactly winning the conference. Quite frankly considering their recent run it is actually historically low. Overrated?
Maybe they should be 7th then....
It is all relative anyway, pick 7 schools ahead of them and be specific of why their roster and staff deserves that spot. And then you say you don't care "how good Steve Adams' is." Well I don't care how good Peyton Siva is, or CJ Fair or D'Lo Harrison etc. You can't just write off the no. 1 Big East recruit as if his impact is minimal.
