He would be screwed if BYU manages to drag Boise and San Diego State back to Mountain West.

Or, SJU can rise to the challenge and become one of the top programs (along with G-Town, Cincy and Marq) in the restructured Big East.  At the end of the day, we might not have a choice.

I actually like the addition of Tulane. I thinks it is a good long term investment. In fact, if the BE and ACC merge, I would like to see the new conference keep Tulane. 
I always thought of them as an east coast school located in the south ( like Duke & Wake)


ECU on he other hand, I dont want to be associated with athletically.

Once the ACC invites UCONN or Lousiville the BE basketball schools will have enough votes to disband the conference (before the new football schools join and have a vote).
That's when we'll know what the future of the conference will be. 

I'm betting that within a week of UCONN or L'ville to the ACC, the catholic schools will vote and leave.   It's just a matter of time.

the problem with the catholic schools disbanding, at least the way i see it, is that there is no leadership.  who's going to lead this new league?  who will negotiate the tv deals?  there is zero guarantee money. what happens to MSG as the BE Tourney home?  Do the catholic schools leave and try to join other leagues?

disbanding may be a bigger headache that schools like STJ, GTown, Nova, PC, and Depaul can't financially afford.

I would think and again I'm not a lawyer but if the majority of the schools vote to leave they would in turn take the BE name with them.  And presumably inside track to any deals like MSG.  Either that or it shakes down to the original members of the League and how many remain or something.

Big East is locking down a lot of big tv markets---although it is gonna be a strange league (if it holds together).  The next challenge will be to get these teams to put a good product on the court/field in order to capture the audience.  NYC, Chi, Philly, Houston, Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, DC, along with Milwaukee, New Orleans, Memphis. Louisville, Cinci, etc.

can't believe its been over ten years since he's gone.  had the priveledge of tutoring him on a couple of occassions.  very polite and smart kid.  represented our school well.  always thought he would be better off on a run and gun team.  but he had the upmost respect for coach C.  he is missed.

Bingo.  Northwestern does not get you the Chicago market, Notre Dame does and they are not even in Chicago.  Florida Atlantic does not get you the Miami market, Miami gets you the Miami market.  Texas gets you every major TV market in Texas (Houston/Dallas/Austin etc).  Not SMU.
