beyond the court, the loss of sanchez, also hurts from a recruiting perspective.  he's suppose to be NBA talent.  that's one less guy that lavin can claim he sent to the NBA.

So much about turning the corner relates to public perception. Seems the adage about two steps forward, etc. is germane. Have to admit recent recruiting loss of McCullough really bugged me.(Ish & Martin to a lesser extent) Absence of a backup plan, however, is a bit disconcerting.

Things are not a rosey as the media suggests, I love Lavin but I think we can work harder on the recruiting front and our staff is not as accomplished as some suggest. With that said, if he makes the tournament and lands Jordan and Lawrence, things will be outstanding.  8)

I'll take note of your criticism for what I do and don't post.  Thanks for the heads up.  What post am I trying to debunk?

I'm not here to break news.  I don't get my rocks off breaking a story.  I'm grateful for the info I know as it keeps me sane when rooting for my favorite team.  When the reasons come out for this they will come out.  I happen to agree with you about the risks and also posted about depth earlier today to show that honestly provided they play Gift and even Felix this isn't the worst thing in the world.  People are entitled to blame Lavin.  He deserves a little bit because I think this could have been resolved a lot earlier.

You seem to have some sort of in with the program and I don't think anyone denies that. The post where you said you know what the "situation" was and it is not acadamic but said you could / would not clarify. If you knew something was going on however, why did you seem so sure he would be eligible?
I don't consider you a Forum glory hound like your buddy Fordham. I honestly like tweeking you in particular becuase are so defensive of any criticism towards coach. As I have indicated I am a Lavin fan myself, but I don't think he needs protection from every post that is not 100% positive. I think this is in reaction to all of the posters(you included) who defended the indefensible(Norm) for so long.

I find it hilarious how many ppl think that I find Lavin to be Godly and immune to criticism.  If you even knew me you would know he takes plenty of flack from me.  I just find it enjoyable to dispute some people who take criticism to some insane level on here.

I defended Norm for 4 yrs.  Is that so bad to give a coach like him in his position 4 yrs?  If so then I guess I'm the fool for supporting my alma mater and new coach coming in after a class A jerk for 4 yrs.

Again just out of curiousity why were you so sure he would be eligible? To me the fact that they weren't playing at all and the length of time involved seemed to scream that there was a bigger issue at play.

Because I heard 1 yr for the longest time.  Then last week the tune changed to sour and it was a question of if anything at all.

Lets play a game.  What if they say he can only play 2nd semester.  He's 24 yrs old.  Will he even bother staying to play 1 semester of college ball?

Anyone know if the NCAA is even "open" today for the Veterans Day holiday?

I see speculation, and tweets, but I was truly expecting we'd hear SOMETHING  on Orlando and Marco one way or the other before the first game game of the season - even if it's only the half-a$$ed "cover your butt" kind of announcement they gave for Shabazz (to paraphrase, "nothing has changed, we're still investigating, he can't play till we finish").    But hen I realized it's a federal holiday today.

I think in the discussions today people are confusing blame for why Sanchez would be ineligible with taking risks in recruiting.

What Orlando did 3 years ago (presumably some type of professional basketball) is all on him.

Coach's decision to recruit a player who may have had amateurism issues; and then to prolong the discovery/announcement - that would be something you could criticize him for.

But there's two different areas of "blame", and they're being used interchangeably.
Personally, it is what it is, I don't blame anyone.   Seemed like rational decisions were made at the time by everyone involved.   Orlando did what he thought was right 3 years ago, and coach made a decision to still recruit him this year.

Steve Lavin says D'Angelo Harrison will not start tomorrow vs. Detroit, but will play starter minutes

Here's a question: since Sanchez has enrolled in classes, will this affect our APR if he chooses to go overseas or something if ruled ineligible??

Somewhat intriguing. Maybe they are appealing the decision?

hey guys, do we know for sure that GG and felix will indeed suit up this year if those other guys are ineligible?  can't take anything for granted these days.

btw, i really hope, by some miracle, that marco and sanchez play this year.  but if not, i still like our chances of going dancing this year.  i have all the faith that CO and GG will get the job done.  and everyone else is rock solid.  go st. john's.  can't wait for tomorrow.  and, one last thing...i f_cking LOVE the recruiting job the staff has done the last two years.  i focus more on the guys we have, than the guys we lost.  and i am most grateful.

I think we would know if they were denied eligibility then STJ would say they were appealing, this is similar to the UCLA situation. I don't believe that there is any ruling as of yet.
