The announcers tonight said Sanchez was the best player in the pickup games. Earl Watson said he could play for the jazz right now

Correction, Earl said he could START for Utah right now.  Of course, not sure if that's a "rave" for Sanchez,  or a "knock" on the Jazz!  :)

Off topic, but I once sat with Jarvis and mutual acquaintance at AAU event in NJ. Kenny Satterfield was playing and ripping it up. I casually asked MJ if he liked his game and he indifferently shrugged. Guess Cincy and NBA knew better.

I met Jarvis at a dinner the evening before the UCLA game in 2003 or 2004, I wanted to talk to him about basketball, he shrugged me off and talked to my wife flirting with her for like 15 minutes lol
He showed for that dinner!! Kids played good that game, and then came the Pitt thing. I don't believe the kids won another game until beating Georgetown. Nice win for the walk ons or we go zero for the BE.

Pitt was the next year.
Moose, sent you 2003-2004 results post prior to this one.

My bad.  Guess the bad years are a blur.

Wasn't the story he offered Abe off of just a video tape?

He never saw Keita play. Not sure if it was video or going on word of mouth, but he never saw him. Keita's line as a senior was 6 / 6 / 6. Probably should have been an omen.

What does any of this have to do with Sanchez?

Does anyone believe this crap about Sanchez being ready to start in the NBA ?

Its clearly a quote we give to the announces in the talking points because Jay Williams said the same thing two games ago.
I doubt him and Lawson both happened to have conversations with Earl Watson.

Do I believe it?  I don't know but I'd like to think Earl Watson knows what he's talking about.

Your 2nd point yes clearly we feed the announcers talking points and I'm sure this was one of them.

Moose you've seen Sanchez play more than I have, but in the two playoff games for Monroe that were online and the one time i saw him at Pro City; he looked to be pretty good at everything, master of nothing.   No glaring deficiencies in his game but nothing stood out as extraordinary, or "nba-like".

He does move and pass very well for his size.   Those two things impressed me most.
But I don't know, he seemed like a watered down version of Lamar Odom.   Not very aggressive offensively, but can hit a mid range shot or finish in transition.   Again, very athletic defensively, but not a true low post defender.   Above average rebounder and shot blocker, but not great at either of those things either.

What am I missing that others are seeing?
I think Leo called him a pro in waiting as well.

I believe it. Him and Christian Jones can fight it out for NBA ROY.

I don't.  Everyone always wants to talk about diamonds in the rough types. I think Sanchez is a very, very solid player, but I think there is a lot of hyperbole being thrown about.

No, Earl was QUOTED saying that.    Quite possible both Williams and Lawson actually did their prep work for a St. Johns gig.

orlando is getting ready to sign with a team in europe.  i spoke to him and a friend of his tonight.  orlando was on the verge of tears telling me there's nothing he can do about it.

the ncaa is playing chicken with him...and they've apparently won.

i'm hoping for a miracle.

Horrible to hear.  Hopefully we just play Gift and move on if that's the case.  Amazing the NCAA does this shit.  Put it on twitter Newsie.  It worked for Shabazz..

I would not blame Orlando one bit if he left and went to Europe to play. This is unacceptable by the NCAA and they need to be called out on this. What good does this do for Orlando's future and his family keeping on the sidelines? The NCAA is as corrupt as they come.

Newsman13...Did you get a sense of what the issue is? Or is it a case of no proof so NCAA will sleep deprive him until he gives in and leaves?

The NCAA is crooked. Clearly they are playing favorites. Someone needs to play the role of enforcer. Legal or not. It's time to teach them a lesson.

i know hindsight is 20/20, but i'm starting to think it would've been more prudent to redshirt Jones instead of Gift.  We need the big body.

Jones is a big body. He needs to play harder.
