Who was the coach you wanted?  I know it wasn't Calamari or Clam Chowder or whatever you call Cal.

I don't recall lobbying for one guy or another except Frank Martin and that was in private. Are you attempting a point? If so you should try declarative sentences every once in a while, they're fun.

I'm asking a question.  Thats what happens when you put a ? at the end of a string of words.  Frank Martin would have been good choice as well.

Yes but there's an axiom planted in your question. I make a comment mildly critical of his handling of a minor personnel issue and you're all of a sudden 'well who did you want as coach again'? I didn't want anyone. I rarely ponder counterfactuals, at least not in basketball. Lavin is the great and powerful coach and we're lucky to have him, considering the alternatives. I just won't think he's infallible until I can thrust my finger in his hole. Metaphorically speaking obviously.

Actually I asked you before but you didn't see it or didn't answer.  I have no clue what an axiom is and won't pretend to know it or look it up for that matter :)

That is not the point. Even if it is only a minor punishment, it is the third game in a row. You generally prefer to have your best player and coach on the same page. Lavin / Harrison are clearly not  at the moment. One other thought on the subject. For all intent and purposes Lavin is a new coach for Harrison.

Excuse me for being a wise*ss, but, tomorrow is the first game of the season and the real season does not start till January or even March if you listen to sports talk shows in NYC.

Not having your name announced as a starter but knowing that you are going to play most of the game is not what I would call a minor punishment.  It is sort of like being told you can eat most of the cookies as long as you dont eat the first one.

I'm looking forward to the Detroit game so we can discuss on the court issues based on a game played way too early in the day and in the season.

This is why we have Chris Obekpa, and why we can't just assume its only us vs McCallum.  Detroit is a very good team and they will give us a tough, tough time...

Detroit's Doug Anderson Massive follow Dunk vs. St. John's

Lol.  I only remembered when I watched the vid.  The hideous loss was worse.  Need to come out and take it to them tomorrow.  They are tough.  Nervous about this first game.  We are deeper and have more depth and height but still worried if we can't defend perimeter.  I think Obekpa can have a massive impact in this one if he sets a tone.  Guys Ike Jakarr, Amir, jones and Dom can take a lot of heat off our guards and let D'Lo get his mojo back.  We need D'Lo.

Say we start Greene, Amir, Sir'Dom, Jakarr and Obekpa.  That still leaves a bench of Jones, Harrison, and Balamou and Gift should the staff want to use them.  Add to that the potential of getting Bourgault and/or Sanchez, even if Sanchez might be a long shot.  Our bench doesn't have to be short if the staff decides not to redshirt Balamou and Gift.  At this point, I think I favor scrapping the redshirt idea anyway if it looks like we're going to lose Sanchez.  Either way, we'll be 10 deep if we want to be tomorrow.

Call me crazy, but this sounds like a decision on Sanchez really hasn't been firmly made yet. The kid could speculating himself. Who knows? Maybe he will get a suspension instead of not being allowed to play? Let's hope, because if we don't see Gift tomorrow, that has to mean something.

Think we see the same starting lineup as the last exhibition game.

At this point, redshirting GG seems nuts (I actually never thought it was a great idea).  Our luck is such that Sanchez won't play at all and we'll need GG to fill some minutes, regardless of how well Sampson, Jones and Obekpa play.

We can't afford to use 8 players the entire pre season. I think the chance to redshirt GG is gone. Hopefully we'll hear something on it shortly.

The fact that Lavin is even considering redshirting GG means he thinks there is a chance Sanchez might be cleared, right?  Wasn't there just a kid handed a ten game suspension for accepting pay or improper benefits?

He is probably thinking of the 2 Indiana players.

Correct.  He could just be forced to sit a few games.  This is not over yet.
