you're misreading my posts.  i DO have a sense of humor in all this.  don't take it personally.  the responses to my posts have, for the most part, been pretty amusing.

"Quite simply, if the seven Catholic schools offer enough money to the existing Big East, officials are talking about a split that could happen as soon as next fall and shift ownership of the Big East name to the basketball schools. The other side, which is anchored by Connecticut, Cincinnati and South Florida and set to add new partners next fall like Memphis, Temple and Houston, would then create a new name for its conference."

Knew this was a possibility. Enough media experience? Ha

“@ESPNDanaOneil: I have just figured it out - why the Pope suddenly resigned. He's the new Catholic 7 commissioner. Why didn't I realize it sooner?”

Heard today from someone that one of the local sports networks is preparing a package to present st johns that would significantly increase STJ's exposure in the NY market.   Ironically they said the break up of the big east, and the end of the big east tv deal could be a huge boon for STJ.
Looking at a regular pre/post game show, a new weekly show for Lavin, buying the rights to all our non-conference games not covered in the expected C7 deal with Fox, and approaching Fox about buying the local rights to any games they don't show on the national network.
Basically a regular home for things St Johns when we're not on nationally.
Apparently St Johns hoops gets consistent ratings in some key demographics.   Maybe that's why we can never get anyone to attend games - they're all at home watching on tv.    Still in the planning stages, but sounded promising.

Thats awesome news, thanks for sharing it. I'm surprised it hasnt happened sooner...you'd think YES and SNY would be killing each other to help build a local brand in college hoops and grab some valuable winter programming. I mean sure, SNY would have to bump ground- breaking fare like "Beer Money" for an SJU pre-game, but still....

Yea, I thought so too.   The person said how much they can do will really depend on the C7's deal with Fox.
But they said the early season out of conference games, and a simple pregame show in a studio .. that costs practically nothing to produce and would be a win win for the university and the network.

Probably SNY and much because they feel uconn. Won't have that local appeal and more in NYC as well as the rest of the league heading to ACC/espn country and Big Ten.  Sny the most logical becauseit would be losing a lot in the next year or two.  Sounds promising certainly.

While MSG has multiple channels they also have multiple teams.  So on a given night you could have Rangers, Knicks, Isles, Devils playing and buh bye STJ on tv etc.  SNY is quiet outside of baseball season.

Yes, "sounds great". And one assumes it will be akin to Pukon on SNY. Or possibly replacing them wherever they go. And will it include the women, also other sports like baseball, soccer etc.

Yeah and since St. John's produces all of their games on their own for baseball, lacrosse, soccer, basketball it'd be cheap and easy programming for SNY.

Won't be SNY as the need Ucon because of comcast distribution in Conn.  One network that really doesn't have college sports unless you count Yale FB is YES.

As to Pope as C7 Commissioner--I thought that it was going to Cardinal Dolan-raised in St Louis (the 10th team?); bishop of Milwaukee (MU) and now in NYC.  He would be great at throwing up the jump ball for the opening of the first C7 tournament at MSG.
