I thought the student section was pretty good on Saturday night, but not as good as these guys.

Our student section has grown tremendously over the last couple of years ... since Lavin's arrival obviously.

It bothers me that we don't have any student/fan traditions like the Taylor University (video below) silence until team scores 10th point.  For a brief moment we had the male cheerleader running around with the flag, not so special but at least it was something.  Back when we really were SJU -- that is before Chief Black Jack was traded in for the "STJ" unicorn -- we had some student/fan traditions.

It would be great if some of the old guard could help the students revive some game traditions, even some chants from yesteryear.

I was very pleased to finally see the student section opposite our bench and therefore behind the basket our opponent shoots at in the 2nd half.  I've been bitching about that for 10 years.  We always had students there but it was the overflow area, where the not as diehard fans were.

Student section did a good job on Saturday and the numbers surprised me (w/e right before finals).  they were quick to drown out the FU chants.  Also they tried to coordinateWe Are/St. John's.

Keep it up students!

The student section was pretty great for the SC game. The problem with the Carnesecca student section is now a days you have to have the season ticket package to sit there. So then there are a ton of students stretched out throughout the rest of the arena.

What's the deal at MSG then?  There were a ton of students at the Fordham game.

A lot more seats in one area at MSG than there are at CA.  Once you go past the end zones at CA they have to fall behind the season ticket holders and such.  Spreads them out.

everyone says we have a staid older conservative crowd and we only draw between 3 and 4 thousand a game at Carnessecca so how can there be tons of students spread throughout the area (unless by tons you mean 15 to 20).
