Just got back from the game and it was nice to see some fellow posters .. But I have never been more disgusted at this team.  I shouldn't say that because the coaching tonight was non existent.  Offense was the weave after weave and zero spacing and the team tried pressing and trapping to no avail all game.  Zero adjustments were made and the team looked better with Branch in. Yes he throws some hot dog passes.. But at least he throws passes.  Obekpa tries to block everything ( not a bad thing) .. But when he leaves his feet there is nobody to pick up the weak side assignment or get a board .. Not having Orlando ( who knows what's up with him) has left this team needing a player like gods gift in the
worst way ..Christian Jones is so disinterested with the game of basketball and cannot be counted on to contribute in any way right now.  Marco if he is not shooting in the corner served zippo purpose on a basketball court.  Problem is that he is never waiting in a stationary position getting it kicked out to him after dribble penetration because the weave doesn't lend itself to that type of play.   D'angelo can score 5 million points a game and I will still feel like he is part of the problem due to his excessive bad on the court body language and his penchant for taking ridiculous shots at times.  Dom and Amir are the lefty / righty version of each other and both can only go a dominant way.  Jakarr played well IMO and unfortunately he just isn't strong enough at this stage of his young career to be a force on the boards.   All in all I love these kids and all of the above mentioned problems can be fixed with some better coaching.  I am just disgusted with this loss.  No way in the world should this team lose this game.  Nobody has a clue as to how many ships we have for next year.. But if we recruit another wing I'm going to lose it.  Point guard and a 4/5 with some strength. Juco or whatever . Terrible loss

Didn't see the game - felt like I did after reading this post- haven't read the rest of the posts yet but why gift red shirting?

Kind of sucks the next game isn't for a week and a half. This is going to linger for too long.

This game should be a wake-up call - for the coach.

We lost the game in the last minute of the 1st half.  Check it out. 

I said that earlier in the thread.  Said we should have been going in up by 15.  We came out weak to start the second half and it was game over.  The lead should have easily been pushed up over 20.  No fire in these guys.

 This place is 90% pessimist and 1% feminist ( baldi). 

 The crying and whining should only increase until our next game more than a week from now.

 We should probably just fire Lavin and bring back Norm at this point.

Realist: Somewhere in the middle. The folks playing for SJU in Fordham game season were mature, physically  strong, played decent D and experienced. We are not there yet obviously.

Do you consider turnovers an indication of favorable point guard skills?  Because it's not.

The sum total of his ability to get others shots last night, weather you considered them easy or not, was two.  Are you really able to determine such absolutes after watching a player for 14 minutes?

He might turn out to be John Stockton, but I question your ability to guage that or even if he's a better point than Mr. Greenjeans based on last nights numbers and limited time alotment.

If you've been watching him in practice, saw a lot of his play with the Aggies and/or in high school, then that would make sense.

He actually made several other passes that didn't count as assists because the recipient was fouled.  Watching it live, you could sense the court vision.  I'm sure nerves led to some of the turnovers but you can see the skills.

Celtic, maybe it was.  I support the kids with the guts to try to return our program to the top of the league.  It's pretty gutless and stupid to rant about 19 years olds playing for free.  Besides, if Dom or Amir transferred there would be plenty of strong programs going after them. 

I love what both Dom and Amir bring to the team.  Dom is a liability on offense but I, unlike some posters, appreciate the intensity that he brings on the defensive end.  Amir has a good all around game.  He just needs to be more consistent.  It will become increasingly difficult as his minutes drop.  I think both will be contributors over the course of their careers.

And if they were on a team loaded with scores, those attributes will serve them well. 

Unfortunatly, that deficiancy from those two players just cripples our team, because we only really have 2 guys putting up points consistantly.

I don't think we will ever see how good amir could be if only focused on basketball.  He needs to be a gym rat during the summer.

Neither one will kill you with their jumpshot but both are good at going to the rim.  If we had an offense and a pg that could get them the ball in the right spot, they could each consistently give you 8-10 pts.

Hey JIS-nowhere did I rant. Full schollie is not playing for free. No one is treating them like pro's or being overly critically about individual players, more on the coaches (oh that's right they only make millions of dollars) and  on team results. You sound like you are from the everybody gets a trophy crowd.
