Make that two bad losses :)

Really bad loss tonight.  The people who think I drink KoolAid will love reading my posts tonight

I'm in the same boat as you. Never good when the highlight of your night is the steak sandwich at the sly fox .

Saw the title of this thread and thought Paultzman wrote it after the game and figured he was drunk. Glad to see he wrote it in the afternoon

It's great that everyone views CO's blocking prowess as a positive.  It certainly would be if the coaching staff advised our other players to crash the boards when Chris goes for a block.  One of the reasons we are getting out rebounded on a regular basis is that when Chris goes for the block, teams are killing us on the weak side offensive boards.  You would think that a multi million dollar coaching staff would be advising our team of such.

My guess is that they do advise them of this.  Maybe the previous years of playing up and down basketball showcasing their individual skills takes a long time to change.

Keady can coach better than most of us and he is watching these games closley with a yellow pad and pen.

There are a lot of great things about this team if they can can figure out the defense and get much better on the glass.  I think we start off the Big East season 2-0.  These boys are going to get get all over Nova after this effort.

By that point, I hope we know about Sanchez's situation, and then possibly Gift is back in the mix.  Not saying he is a savior by any stretch, but we need a big body who is comfortable and content playing on the low blocks, rebounding, and doing the little things.

Honestly, it is a joke that GG is still sitting on the bench at this point

We're headed into Big East play at this point and the NCAA has not made a ruling on Sanchez.  As far as I'm concerned, he should be a non-factor at this point.  The team needs rebounding and if there is one thing GG can contribute in, it's the rebounding department.

Lavin needs to start with this absurdity and get GG into the game

Villanova and Cincinnati?  Wow, you are drinking the Kool-Aid this morning

Cincinnati is going to destroy St. John's in a few weeks

Reason being, they have a coach who actually seems to know what he is doing out there

That's why it seems that lavin views this year as preparation for next year. If we make the tournament, bonus

Bingo!  Give that lady a cigar.  Sampson and often times another are all trying to get the block, it's hard to rebound when three guys are trying to block a shot and are out of position.

At this point, we really should have been 11-1, instead we are 8-4. Going into the season the only loss I thought we would have was assuming a loss against Baylor in final of Charleston. Of course we played them and lost but it wasn't in the championship game.

I thought we would have gone 10-8 in Big East for a 21-9 record and an NCAA birth.

At this point, we need to do the following to get into tournament. I am not saying that we can do this but we need to in order to make the tournament. Anything less than an NCAA birth is a disappointing year.

at Nova WIN
at Cincinnati LOSS
RUTGERS WIN
GEORGETOWN LOSS
NOTRE DAME WIN
at Depaul WIN
at RUTGERS WIN
SETON HALL WIN
DEPAUL WIN
at Georgetown LOSS
UCONN WIN
at Cuse LOSS
at Louisville LOSS
USF WIN
PITT WIN
at Providence WIN
at Notre Dame LOSS
MARQUETTE Win

That is 12-6, again I am not predicting we can do this but this is the blueprint to salvaging the season. This is a talented team. They just need to play better basketball.

Doody, if that is the only reason then why are these two coaches 2-2 in head to head over the past two years.  If you compare the two rosters and experience of the players Cronin will be creamed if he loses this game at home.  He has the best team in the league this season.

"If you look at our games, we were up nine on Baylor, up 13 on Murray State and up 17 tonight. So if we sustain, we'd probably be 11-1 and ranked 15th in the country tonight," Lavin said. "We'd be the same group of players, with the same flaws and deficiencies as the team that's 8-4."

Yes, but when your coaching staff has no idea how to stop the bleeding mid-game, you lose

I'm going to be honest I don't see how jermaine and rysheed want to play here when watching our games. Theaters nothing appealing about our system. Branch made it look fun for the minutes he was in but outside of that it looked painful, the only thing I can see them coming here for is Pt. other than that what's appealing about our offense?

I dont think Rysheed was ever likely to come here anyway, due to the number of  guards already on roster.
I think we have been the favorite for Jermaine, and his delaying a commitment was in large part to see if Jakarr will be a one & done guy.

Unfortunately, Jakarr will continue to play well and will be gone after this year, but despite Sampsons play the team will suck so horribly that Jermaine will decide to go elsewhere.  Unless he only cares abt playing time and doesnt mind playing for a losing team.

So next season we will likely have no Jakarr, no Jermaine or Rysheed. And possible no Harrison.
Which would likely spell the end of Lavin at St johns after three consecutive horrible losing seasons

I, too, am very disappointed about last night's loss.  However, I don't understand how everyone (figuratively speaking) suddenly thinks Lavin will turn into Norm Roberts on the recruiting trail.

Would have too play by far our best game of the last 2 seasons to beat Cincy on the road. Guess it is possible but highly unlikely. Would have to play way over our heads off what i have seen so far this season.

We beat Cincy on the road last year, didn't we?   I think we are better than last years team. I guess the question is, how much better is Cincy this season?

Think Cincy is better this year and we beat them by a tip in at the buzzer and in the second game that housed us in the garden. tip in was by Moe Harkless the best player we have had in quite a few years and guess what-he ain't walking through the door.
