18 names have been mentioned in this thread.  Could you be more ambiguous?

2010 - Hardy on the floor, DJ by example, but as a bunch of seniors that team had plenty of character and experience so the leadership need wasn't as great

2011 - Harkless led by example, but wasn't directing anyone to do their job

2012 - It needs to be Branch. D'lo is incapable of keeping his own emotions in check when he feels slighted. Not good leadership quality. Love Sampson, but he doesn't strike me as the guy to impose his will on others to pick up their games.  We need Branch to take charge of this team. With all of our great athletes who seem to get consistently outplayed by inferior opponents with better fundamentals, I think we need a floor general putting them in the right place on the floor.

Well I'm scared like you that Dave mentioned him.  He would be far down my list.

What's wrong with the notion that Dom is a leader?  I don't see him as a "me" first guy either.

You could argee dj Kennedy' s team didn't have a leader their sophomore year. Guys will grow into the position. I thought harrison was the leader last year- clearly he is struggling this year. I don't know if Dom is a good enough player to be the teams leader

2010's team was a team full of leaders. DJ was always a leader, paris lead by example, the whole team followed Dwight.

Agreed - and with all that leadership they could not win till they were seniors and had a coach who put the right people on the court.

I predict that Branch will quickly asume leadership of the team out on the court and DLo - who will realize that it is in his and the team's best interest - will  be second-in-charge (the enforcer) of getting others players on the same page.

I agree with the notion a leader makes others better.  I don't see Dom doing that.  I'd also like a leader to make the big play.  Dom's call is his defense and this year its been very suspect.

As for 2010 its interesting.  It took DJ awhile to pick up Lavin/Dunlap system.  I also sense he never really was a fan of going from 'the' guy to 3rd option that year.

He might not of loved it but I dont think it effected his play that much. Once big east play started his role was essential, as was Horne's and Burrell's, and they along with the team flourished.

The kid who become the leader on this team will be the one who is able to talk to D'Lo and have D'Lo listen.

So far, that playa has yet to emerge.

Great point choz. Unfortunately I don't see a younger guy coming in who will be able to do that. I wish there was an upperclassman who was here when he came in that could have mentored him.
Our only hope may be branch who has two things going for him, 1 he's a point guard and 2 he goes back a ways with deangelo.

There is a difference between being a leader and a go-to guy on the court.

Any call for Branch as the leader of this team is difficult to comprehend. He's played 1 game.

While I agree with you that he isn't the team leader yet, isn't it possible for him to be a leader considering he has been practicing with the team all this time?
