If CO continues to play the way he has, does anyone think he will win BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year?

Yes and No.  Yes, because shot blocks are sexy.  No, because it will probably go to someone on a winning team.

Noel with 12 blocks last night. Obekpa now number 2 in bpg. Noel averages around 6 more minutes per game though.

Ironically Noel is blocking more shots since conf play while Chris has trailed off.

More a statement of the respective conferences (SEC vs. Big East) than the players, no?

Not so sure to be honest.  Chris' minutes have decreased a bit.  Maybe his numbers were inflated by non conf slate too.

Maybe.  You could also look at the blocks per 40 minutes.  Noel is at 5.88, Obekpa at 6.92.  So maybe the differential in the minutes is the real reason for the recent separation.

Also has to do with 7'0 Willie Cauley-Stein being out of the Kentucky lineup the last 6 or so games.   Cauley-Stein had blocked 3 or more 7 times in the 14 games before he went down.   Noel's done a good job of picking up the slack....

I hate that stat though.  Because they are never going to play 40 consecutive minutes.

Don't think so. His 12 blocks game vs an athletic Ole Miss team including while saddled with 4 fouls at least 4 blocks of dunk attempts in last few minutes of the game. Was watching Kansas the other night and saw Jeff Withey get 2 blocks in meaningless final seconds and i'm saying darn which other team had just taken a 3 so CO has better chance of being ahead of him.
