Just back and must say this was a Rolaids game for me but the result was wonderful.  D'angelo had best game in a while.  One thing that was positive was that they never let SH get the lead back.  While they had a big lead (loved the end of first and beginning of the second half) and gave it away they did not give it all away.  Will need a nap on wednesday to stay up that late for the game and travel home.

First time in Lavin era we beat Willard and the Hall.  Hoped for pay back for the 30 point loss last year.  Next year should be a good game as virtually all players will be back.

Our interior defense is still awful. Lost count of how many layups we gave up. Can't start a game by giving up 3 layups. We did the same against ND. That won't wash against the big boys.

Its bad the way we get pushed around. When you make a star out of a pug like Teague you know you need more size. They kept bringing in a new Moose (  ) every quarter. Boy do we need Sanchez. Even Gift is 3 + inches shorter then these guys.

CO seemed to nuetralize their inside game once he came in the game.

Watching that game court side today I just don't understand Lavin's rotations at all but then again, SHU's made no sense to me at all either.

How can you keep Branch out for such a long stretch in the 2nd half...

Also - we gave SHU every chance to take that game away from us.. They had multiple wide open looks in the last 2 - 3 minutes and just didn't knock them down. Our defense down the stretch was terrible. Multiple people around me were commenting on the kill the clock offense we seem to fall back into at some stretch in every game. It like we are playing not to lose at times instead of putting our foots on the other teams neck.

SJU is one tough group of kids, they play very hard basketball and for a young team they have no fear at all.

If Obekpa can get any clue on offense he is going to be a special player. He completely alters the game from the defensive end of the court.

I think he effected the other players on S?HU as opposed to Teague. Teague pushed him around like a rage doll in the blocks.

The other player on SHU were clearly aware of where Obekpa was every time they went to the basket.

Did anyone notice how many shots we took (mostly JS) with no white jerseys anywhere near the boards?

That's nothing new though.  Its been our MO all year.  Its the main reason we get outrebounded so much.  That and on defense usually we have 2 guys closing out a guy last minute running away from the boards.  Mix that together and we have what we have.

Much of the run by SH today and in other games have come with Dom on the bench. He's got to stop bad fouls or sit some to keep him out of trouble. He's the guy that makes the other team rush their O. Without him we hardly ever get run outs, and DLo gotta take over the game in the half court.

He was 300 pounds.  Do they get much bigger?

If he turns down the aggression he's not the same Sir Dom.  I would tell him to go for it all the time. 

We have really become a much better passing team than we were earlier in the year.

Sorry to join the party late.  Internet went town in Blacksburg around noon and just now came back up!

Didn't see it mentioned in the thread, but we just tied last year's entire win total, with  up to 21 games remaining.   FWIW, the biggest turnaround in wins for SJU was from 1984 to 1985 -  13 wins:  18-12 in 1984, 31-4 in 1985.

BTW, elsewhere in the thread there was discussionof the bulk of the opposing bigs vs. our front line.  Someone made the comment the kid today was 300 lbs - when are we going to see BIGGER?

Well, in 6 days.  He's not yet eligible, but UCLA transfer Josh Smith is on the Georgetown bench.
