Are we going to praise Greene every game he doesn't bomb?  Yeah he played fine yesterday.  But as PMG pointed out he was also on the floor during the Hall run.  Greene is not quick.  He doesn't have that extra gear that Branch has.  I'm happy Greene played fine yesterday but really are we going to have a game by game round by round recap of who won the Branch vs. Greene battle?

If you can't see we are better with Branch on the floor its time for a trip to Lens Crafters.

Carmine is simply pointing out, in his own spectacular way, that Greene is not as bad as some fans make him out to be.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Let's remember Greene is playing injured and will probably need surgery after the year.  Give the kid a break.

I know Carmine has his favorites.  I was more pointing to Illscalp (sp)

Branch made a bad turnover and then followed it up with a stupid careless behind the back handoff to Amir who bobbled it but still hung on.  The second he did that Lav pulled him.  Who knows what happens if he didn't do that.

That was a dumb play by Branch. Could have lost us the game. Kid will learn though.

Getting back to Greene, he is what he is. He isn't creative or get others involved but if he continues to score 8-10 a game in about 20 min of play, he is doing a good job.

I know numbers wise Dom didn't have anywhere near the game he did against Rutgers, but how about that 3.   I love that he had the confidence to knock it down.  Dom is progressing faster than anyone and it is fun to watch.

His shooting has certainly improved.  I'd like to see that most of all. He is taking and making open jumpers.  He's not longer rushing the shots.  He's also doing better at the line.  Kid is excellent and getting better all the time.  Does everything.

Loving the growth and game of Dom this season, but that 3 scared the crap out of me.  It's not his game (yet), but nonetheless, it was huge.

He had to take that shot. We likely were not getting a better shot on that possession. That is what Lavin says he stresses to the team on his segment on Red Storm Report.

Strange team! I would not classify us as a good shooting team, yet we score the majority of our points on jump shots. We also do not make free throws or rebound so you would think we would struggle in close games, but all of our wins are close.

The stagnant offense is going to kill them when they play better defensive teams unless some of the other guys step up. Other guys besides Harrison need to want to take big shots in tight spots. Team plays such a nice game when the scoring is balanced and we are not rushing shots late in the shot clock.

SHU had awful late game strategy yesterday....   they should have been fouling Obekpa everytime he touched the ball or even fouling him away from the ball to force him to the line. Putting Obekpa on the foul like is almost as good as a turn over; Lavin would have pulled him out of game and that alters the way SHU could have attacked offensively.

We struggle in blowouts---and turn them into close games.  ;)

My buddy Stat Sheet is a hater.
37% / 63% /24% and amazingly despite his Curly Neal impersonation the circle has only managed to go to the line 19 times all year.
Stat Sheet wanted me to relay that it is not personal, just using the information at his disposal he is a hater of Phil Greene's game.

The Stat Sheet giveth and the Stat Sheet taketh.  I, his parents, his girlfriend and Phil himself will admit that his shooting numbers are anemic once again this season, if you will admit that his once again team leading assist/turnover ratio, better than 2:1, is phenominal.  For those wondering why Hollywood in his infinite wisdom chooses to have Mean Joe on the floor in the waning moments of tight games, look no further than this.

While your at it, admit that he's an excellent defensive player even though I know that you don't care about this or anything else but purity of jump shot form.

P.S. I thought he played well yesterday.  What did you think?

He played fine, but as my BFF Moose pointed out, are we really going to go overboard on him when he doesn't suck?
My main problem with Phil was when he was the primary ballhandler, his dribbling in a circle routine was a tough watch. Now that he has had that burden taken away it would be nice if he could hit a shot once an awhile and maybe mix in a drive to the hoop.
Yesterday was a nice start. Hopefully he can put a couple decent games in a row together.

One of the many benefits of being my MFP, well the only benefit really,  is that you get my defense free of charge against embittered Johnny fans that make dispariging remarks about you on this message board.  Calling a 19 year old amateur the human "circle" deserves an overboard response.

I somehow doubt being called a human circle is the worst thing Greene has been called. And besides it was a play on the coolest nickname ever"the human highlight film."
