I am not complaining about Obepka, though he needs to improve his low post defense. I enjoy watching him try to block everything, but his traditional defense is not good.

At this point since his ft % is that of an 8th grade girl, the cons outweigh the pros when it is a foul situation. With a lead you can't have him out there in final minutes.

I wish we were at least seeing him trying something different from the foul line...he is stuck in "fall away" mode...I'd like to see him trying something else by now...it can't possibly hurt

Another thing on Obekpa, how is it that a 20% free throw shooter is allowed to take fairly deep jumpshots in a close game? That is inexplicable. He made a couple early in the season but now he's lucky if he catches iron and he takes at least one every game it seems like.

Speaking of the short rotation, and our eventual need to play more guys..
We've been amazingly lucky in terms of injuries.  It's a full season and a half and we haven't had a pull or a sprain that caused anyone to miss significant time.   Phil's been able to play with this hip thing, and only in the final regular season game last year was Moe a little banged up.

At some point our luck will run out.
That doesn't mean I want to see Marco Felix and Jones playing 20mins each.    I'm just pointing out no one can play a 6 man rotation for two years straight without experiencing an injury.   Or at least the likelihood of that happening has to be real small.

I agree, the shot he took was early in the shot clock too which made it even more absurd.

I'm sure Lavin would have run out there and grabbed the ball from him if he could have.  Players take bad shots.  He isn't being "allowed" to take it.

Also, since this is the Grade-a-Coach Thread...

4 game win streak against Big East teams = +A

But can we freakin stop killing clock when there's 12 or 13 minutes left in the game!
This team is still too young to know how to kill clock and then find a good shot late in the shot clock.
Just let them be aggressive and play their game a while longer.   You get under 6 minutes and we have a lead...then run the weave in circles all you like.
Just my two cents.

While it may be frustrating to watch us take the air out, it is more frustrating to watch us take poor quick shots up by 10+ pts with the clock winding. That's what happened multiple times against SH. Jakarr would shoot with no one down low for the rebound with 25 seconds on the clock. I'd rather milk clock that do that.

It's amazing. Some guys hates the coach for redshirting Gift.  Some complain that Phil plays too much.  Others complain that Phil doesn't play enough.  A few feel that our best offensive threat scores too much and should be benched.  The logic being that we would win more if we scored less?  Some are (were?) screaming that Dom plays too much, and Amir too little.  Some feel Jones should get more minutes, while others scream whenever he is put in the game.  Some think Balamou is the answer, while others are upset that Bourgault is getting the opportunity to put up 7 threes a game.

I just reread my post.  It should have read that Bourgault is NOT getting the opportunity to put up 7 threes a game.
