SJU vs Syracuse rivalry will continue

They will play at least the next two years in a home and home.

Put Duke back on the schedule and SJU is back scheduling nationally ranked BCS schools.

I know your feelings on this issue, but
True or false:  there is no win that would give you more satisfaction than beating Cuse at MSG??

We don't have the right kind of team to beat them. When we played swarming man to man d 20 years ago, we could beat them. They eat this match up zone crap for breakfast.

We need to stay big time. Gotta play big teams. we won't be Syracuse this year. But we could when these guys are seniors. Not playing them in the garden for spite will hurt us more in the long run.

I'm not sure you've been watching, but we play man-to-man now for the most part.  We have for the past 5-7 games.  The only game we played a bit of matchup zone was yesterday against DePaul I believe.

I like it.  SJU plays Duke every year (sans this year) and Duke draws huge at the Garden and K uses it as a recruiting tool for the area as well.  Who cares?

This is the way I look at it.  Syracuse is no longer a conference foe.  To me they are just another big time BCS school (UCLA, Duke, Kentucky, Indiana etc) who SJU has an opportunity to play at the Garden and enhance themselves as a major player again in college basketball.

We play man and zone EVERY game.
I don't keep track if its 80/20, 75/25, 60/40 but we switch it up.

Bingo.

And personally I don't have an issue with Boeheim.  Him and Looie always got along very well and you can argue as good as he has been at Syracuse the last 4-5 years have been as good as any he has had at least regular season wise.

Got to play the best teams in the country and we make money by filling the Garden. It's up to us as fans to make sure we have more fans than they do when we play on our home court. We seem to hate Cuse just because their fans take up more seats at the Garden than we do. Who's fault is that?

Out of the defectors over the past few years:

West Va- no need to play them anymore
Syracuse- Agree with home and home
Pitt- Need to schedule them
Rutgers- no need to play them other than inviting them to Holiday Festival
UCONN- need home and home
Cincinnati - no need to schedule them other than inviting them to Holiday Festival
So Fla-  no need to play them anymore
Notre Dame- not sure about this one
Louisville- not sure about this one

Pretty much the original members need to play each other even if we are pissed at one another. Just need to stagger the home and home a bit so schedule isn't the same every year.

I would love the Holiday Festival to go back to tourney format.

Is it set in stone that we play the Barclays pre season event next year?

Agree with stu89. Also if we are going to have an hoilday festival it has to be an event. No more Fordham and crappy teams. Invite 2 good locals and one national team. Florida, Michigan, or a big state .  It also has to be the week after Christmas. People are off then And would come if it was good basketball

I think we should continue playing ND.  They have a big fan base in NY, are usually ranked, and we usually beat them at MSG.  ;)

I just wasn't sure, as I said I think you need to stagger the home and home to playing teams every other year otherwise if you play Cuse UCONN Pitt ND and Ville yearly the schedule is basically the same yearly

I don't think we play Louisville anymore unless inviting them to Holiday Festival

I know Pitino would schedule us in a heartbeat for trips to NY

WV-agree--would rather play KU or UT from their conference not what will become a bottom dweller
Spit on Pitt--no history other than BE
RU kidding me
Con's home and home is MSG and Hartford NOT Gampel
Cin no more
USF only if a significant number of OUR fans would go for a winter break
ND despite the rep they don't sell the tickets-only if MSG and Chicago.  If they want on campus, i say welcome to Carnessca
Louisville is a tough call--they were a big intersectional rival in the day but I don't think they generate the seat sales to justify MSG and after Patino what will happen to them

Lastly remember the more of these we choose the less we get with intersectionals which I believe is the key to re-establishing a national team
