Bubble

I have been a fan since I was a little kid during Mullin's frosh season. In all that time I can only remember one year where we were actually a bubble team. Either we were def in (most of Louie's years) or def out. Basically I can only remember one season where selection Sunday was suspenseful for me. Unless my memory is starting to slip, I believe Shelton Jones senior year we got in with 18 wins and there was some uncertainty going into selection Sunday. Even that year, I believe we played the 8/9 game and lost a close game to Vernon Maxwell and Florida.

Obviously the reason I bring this up is this season is shaping up with us being firmly on the bubble. The way I am looking at it is we have at least 5 games left to win 4 games. If we pull off 4 of 5 we are in.

What about Hatten's first year?  We were a 9 seed I think.  I mean that was before the whole mid major craze really and the extra teams.  Could that be considered a bubble year?

20-11 going into the NCAA loss.  Looks like RPI and SOS of 44 and 43

I think we get in with 3 more wins against Providence and 2/3 vs Pitt Marquette and ND

Or we get 2 of next 4 and win at least 1 tournament game

Anything less than that we are definitely out

I think 2 wins out of the next 4 plus a BE tourney win is the most likely scenario, assuming we have Branch back soon.

I think we are going to be on the outside looking in on Selection Sunday. We have to go at least 2 - 2 in our last 4 and probably win 2 games in BET to get in. I hope I am wrong.

From what I can tell, there has not been an at large been given to a team with fewer than 19 pre-tournament wins.  Need 3 more Ws any which way

Those are the 3 no doubt.  Record looks a lot nice with the non conf ones for sure.

Win 2 out of 4, 1 in the BET and STJ will be dancing, IMO.

I am not so mad about the Rutgers loss, a split is OK with me. I am not happy we got swept by Georgetown and of course the Asheville and SF losses kill us. Murray State should have been a win too

Winning 4 out of 5 against the competition we will be playing is a tall task.

Split is fine when all is said and done but we lost the home end.  Not good when we should have won it.

That Villanova game would have been huge considering they are right on the bubble with St. John's.

Road game.  We lost in OT.  Not a huge deal IMO.  Can't be losing to a weak SF team who played game of their lives and blowing 17 pt lead on campus.
