Geno could board, but kept hammering ball into floor. Got to the rim when he put his guy to sleep. 5 more inches and he be a good power forward. I forget, did he look better next to Hill?

Geno played on some pretty bad teams with some pretty bad players. As a result he was forced to do more than he was capable of doing. He wasn't nearly as bad as people claimed. But he was Norm's boy and everyone hated Norm. Greene otoh plays with some pretty good players and no one forces him to do more than is necessary, but he does anyway. That said, Greene looks to have a much higher ceiling.

If they played one on one Greene would kill Geno. Geno had zero athletic ability yet our offense ran through him. Geno could only play one way, which fit the way Norm wanted to coach sloooooooooow. Greene just seems confused when he plays the point. The last game at least he was moving the ball. As a shooter he seems to have irrational confidence which is a bit of a problem.

Geno was my least favorite Johnny of all time which most of which could probably be pinned on Norm. Greene is more frustrating in that it almost seems like if he did a couple of things differently he would be much better.

BTW the way I called this comparison last year and after a good game by the Circle against Devry tech earlier this season my buddy Choz and a few others tried to call me out on it. Well after two years worth of stats how do you like it now?

Geno asked to play SG?  Maybe for 5 minutes as a senior when Boothe came along. 

He had to shoot and score because there wasn't a lot of talent there was my point.

Yes but as has been mentioned before.  Dribbling for 32 seconds and passing it to someone for a rushed shot or shooting an off balance three on your own is just as bad as a turnover in the stat column.  He takes care of the ball.  But in such a safe mode it can hurt just as much as a turnover.

He leads the team in assists because many of those rushed shots are by D'Angelo and they go in.  I can't remember the last time Greene hit a cutter or got in the lane on a pick and roll to feed someone for an easy layup.

Agreed. Carmine, I don't think Phil is as bad as many on this board make him out to be, but he is not a great player. He should be playing 20 min. as a backup. He has horrible, and I mean horrible court vision, although he has a good handle. He leads the team in assists but that is not saying a lot.

Oh brother.  The same D'Angelo shooting 31% from 3 and 40% from the field?  His shots are not going in at any special rate this season.

And lets pretend for a second that they were.  I'd be forced to mention that Magic led his team in assists because many of those rushed sky hooks by Alcindor went in and Stockton led his team in assists because many of those rushed one handers by Malone went in.  Trying to somehow argue that the assists of Mean Joe are somehow less worthy than the assists of other players puts you on a slippery slope wearing ice skates.
