All just assumptions.  Here's another one.  Harrison acted poorly after his horrible game against Pitt and crossed the line for the last time.

The media savvy coach then decided to take this last and likely final action that he knew would draw unfavorable attention to the program he is building.

At the end of the day, he's had a lot to deal with, but the truth is no one cares about any of the details. It's only the total package that matters. Same with Norm. He had injuries. He had bad luck. In the end, he was simply not intelligent enough to do the job.

Lavin seems to be slightly more intelligent.

So we are now running with Baldi rumors as fact? Nice. Becuase by my coumt Norm would still be coaching, Stephenson, Tuck Bryant, Syl and Kevin Durant would be playing for SJU, Lavin would be in Cali and Iona would be ranked number 1 in the Nation.

You are certainly entitled to this opinion but I think it is very fair to say it is well off base.

We can start off with just staffs within the Big East. Who would you take over St. John's?

Its not about other staffs being better or worse, they don't matter to us. Its about who Coach Lavin has surrounded himself with and how they work as a group.

All of the guys we have know plenty about basketball and bring different things to the table and they all probably work hard. All of that still doesn't make them a good staff.

You are saying staff is weak. There must be some standard you are holding this to. Unless you think all colleges have weak staffs.

Dave, I'm not sure who has a good staff and who has a bad staff.  But it is a little concerning when our team still doesn't have an offensive gameplan and it is the last week of the season.

Bob Knight even mentioned how St. John's really has no idea how to attack the zone

If Harrison really did get into an argument with Rico that almost came to fists being thrown, then why didn't the staff deal with that on the spot?? He should've been benched or suspended for that next game.  Now instead of dealing with things on the spot which they obviously haven't done since the beginning of the year (maybe with exception of making D'Lo run and such in practice), it seems all this stuff has snowballed.

Baldi just PM'd me that Harrison and Hines actually both pulled knives on each other. The rest of the team and coaching staff formed a circle around them snapping their fingers like in West Side Story. It was quite a scene.

Forming the circle was Phil's idea I guess

Baldi might have had bad info in the past, or maybe it was right but things changed.  Who knows.
But Choz, Kob, Dave and others have all hinted at there being serious sh*t going on in practice with D'angelo.   Whether this exact allegation is true seems to be besides the point.

Marco - not busting your chops but I asked someone very close to the program last night if that story was true and they told me 100% no.

They did say Harrison has been a major problem all year and while he is talented and they think he is a good kid, he needs to grow up in a big way. He thought Lavin would take him back if the kids comes to them and says he wants back in but he didn't think the kid would do it.

I would not share specifics but did tell the person I was going to mention on the board that the Harrison - Hines "confrontation" talk was not true.

There are plenty of people here who have contacts with in the program, if they gave up specifics on those conversations all the time, they would not have contacts on the staff for long.

As I said from the beginning, there is no way the staff would torpedo their season by suspending D'lo on a whim.  The kid must've been a serious pain for them to deal with and it probably got old fast.

I hope D'lo gets his act together because I really do believe in his talent.  Whether it's at St. John's or another school remains to be seen, but it'd be a shame to see him waste it.

This is the same staff that benched a kid like Evans until Dunlap went to bat for him.  Then it was crow feathers and the Game ball award vs Duke etc, etc.  Same guy sat the whole game in our masterful effort vs Fordham.  Frankly I don't trust the decisions this staff makes on a lot of levels.  I don't have time to list them but the real fans who saw Nuri and missed GG and Sanchez this year should know what I'm saying.

Do you have a link to an article saying Dunlap went to bat for him? Because I heard he got off the bench right around the time he finally got it through his skull that he wasn't Kenny Anderson, and that he should stop trying to dribble like him.
