And who turned Brownlee and Hardy from bench players into our two main contributors?  If you are going to get on them this year, Bobre, you need to credit 2010-2011.

I don't have time to list them but the real fans who saw Nuri and missed GG and Sanchez this year should know what I'm saying.

What exactly does this mean..?

I have an interpreter on my computer and it says that the decision to recruit and play Nuri was bad.  The decision to bench GG this year was bad.  The research into Sanchez's eligibility was bad.  The same garbage that is always spewed forth.

As I said from the beginning, there is no way the staff would torpedo their season by suspending D'lo on a whim.  The kid must've been a serious pain for them to deal with and it probably got old fast.

I hope D'lo gets his act together because I really do believe in his talent.  Whether it's at St. John's or another school remains to be seen, but it'd be a shame to see him waste it.

This is the same staff that benched a kid like Evans until Dunlap went to bat for him.  Then it was crow feathers and the Game ball award vs Duke etc, etc.  Same guy sat the whole game in our masterful effort vs Fordham.  Frankly I don't trust the decisions this staff makes on a lot of levels.  I don't have time to list them but the real fans who saw Nuri and missed GG and Sanchez this year should know what I'm saying.

Do you have a link to an article saying Dunlap went to bat for him? Because I heard he got off the bench right around the time he finally got it through his skull that he wasn't Kenny Anderson, and that he should stop trying to dribble like him.

Dunlap did. Evans nearly quit the team and Dunlap invited him to work out with him 1 more time before he came to that decision. He then pushed for Evans to get PT and Duke game happened. There is a link somewhere

Recruiting them wasn't a mistake. Some guys don't work out. The staff was out in front on Nuri's recruitment and that is what you want your staff to do. They were proactive not reactive.

Same can be said for Sanchez. They were able to get Marco and Sanchez. There were a number of schools who wanted Sanchez BAD.

Additionally a guy like Felix wasn't on the radar of many Big East schools but St. John's had a scholarship to fill and needed a guard. They were looking at Chris Jones (Pitt), Darrick Wood (Juco), and ultimately decided they couldn't pass up on an athlete like Felix. All 3 guys were projects in some aspects but they were confident they could develop Felix.

I love Felix's potential.  He has shown more than I thought he would in his first year---considering that he was not a highly rated recruit.  Hopefully, he stays and continues to develop.

I think its important that Jones and Felix stay. We will need them as Seniors.

Everyone keeps saying this, but I have a question. When was the last SJU player that hardly played or wasn't that good, became magically good just becuase he was 3 years older? David Cain? Anyone else? Anyone? Bueller?
For the record I think Jones could be good, but I am not really sure why he never played at all, so what do I know?

Silly to think players dont improve year to year. Plenty of bench/marginal players as underclassmen attest to this.

No reason to right off CJ or Felix. Brothers are gonna be good.

C'mon now.

Emanuel

Improved more than almost anyone I can remember and he didn't even have a coach.

Postell was starting on an NCAA tourney team as a Soph and on a team with Lopez and Hamilton as a Frosh. Granted he improved dramatically from Soph to Junior years. But he IMO was better as a Soph than Pointer is, so it was hardly a big jump. If you told me Pointer was going to be 1st team all BE or whatever we will be as a SE I would not be shocked. But we are talking Felix and Jones level here not Pointer.

Emmanuel-I guess you have fonder memories of Emmanuel than I do. Jones might be better than he was now.

Rowan-I will give you that one, though I think Louie should have played him more his Junior year. I chalk that up more to Louie's preference for a shorter bench.

Barrett and Grant-Mahoney was a mess! Both should have played more. You could include Roshown Mcleod with those two if you would like.

Jackson- Started as a Frosh, should have started over Moses as a soph.(I don't care what Fun says) Either way he was a valuable contributor on a Final Four team as a Soph.

All the guys you mentioned outside of Rowan who barely played(on a final 4 team) and Emmanuel wo was never any good showed much more than Felix or Jones(whom I like).

Well of course you do or you wouldn't have brought it up. Anyway IIRC the point fun makes is that Jackson starting or not would not have made any difference in the outcome of the GT games, which is what MJ maintains.

I thought Brownlee and Hardy improved big time in only one year.  In fact, I thought most of that team made a jump their last year, even if the pure stats don't necessarily reflect it.

Probably not. My point is if you gave Mark the ball from day one his Soph year, would you have been shocked if he had his Junior year success a year earlier. At least something close to it anyway. If that scenerio plays out from the beginning, who knows how everything would have turned out.

If I ever get my hands on a time machine this is the second theory I will test out.

Wow- there is a kid who always had a well rounded game but I never thought he improved at any specific skill over his career.

Agreed.  I thought he regressed if anything.
