NIT
« on: March 08, 2013, 11:13:15 AM »
does anyone here want to continue this season? I don't.  Just want this to be over.

I prefer Lavin and staff to figure out the Harrison situation and get their arses out recruiting for 2014.

Bizarre.

A young team can benefit immensely. See Sealy, Werdann, Buchanan.
Parking only for NYCHA permit holders.

As painful as things have been the last few weeks, I want this team to get into the NIT.  Tournament play is great experience, and this "young" group could use the exposure to one and done pressure.  If we think we have shot at dancing this year, the NIT would be a big help!

It's up to the coach to continue his "teaching".
If they simply give up, he doesn't belong coaching here.

I expect them to come out hungry on Saturday.
They may lose, but they had better play hard.

Its not the NCAA, but its also not the CBI. There are quality teams in the NIT. Experience can only help them especially if we are expecting a NCAA run next year.

+1,000 - great point of reference too Choz...   that team lost a brutal 2nd game to Duke the next year and then made the Elite 8 the year after that...   winning the 1989 NIT was the beginning of the process..!!

If the team finishes 16-15, I wouldn't be so sure they go to the NIT.  There wasn't a single team in last years NIT with 16 wins or less.  Add a 5 game losing streak, and a finish that included losses in 7 of their last 8 games.  Do they really deserve an invitation if they finish 16-15?  Last year the worst record of any team in the tournament was 17-16 and more than 75% of the field had 20+ wins.  I imagine that if StJ gets the invite with that record it is about fan draw, and MSG.
