Would You Accept a CBI Invite?
« on: March 13, 2013, 10:21:09 PM »
Obviously our season has taken a nosedive but with that being said I think it would be beneficial to keep playing and get possibly 6 more games in with this young team.  I know it's a little embarrassing to go to the CBI but recently Pitt and VCU have won it and the next year had very successful seasons.  Hopefully we go to the NIT but it looks like we are on the bubble for that.

Seriously though, I wasn't able to watch the game because of work (and my buddy Moose didn't respond to my text). Is Lavin trying to get fired?  Did he lose a bet?  Playing walk ons during key moments last two games - why?

No explanation on "Walkongate" forthcoming from SJU propaganda machine. I'm sure "young team" will be referenced front and center.

what year is Lipscomb in? Maybe Lavs wanted to prove just how young we are. Sure, accept CBI or that other 3rd rate tourney-Lavs looking to add another sweet 16 to his resume.

Maybe the guy busted his ass in practice, while others didn't. If Coach has proved anything this season is that no one player is bigger than the program. He is trying to build something here for the long run and I'm willing to put my trust in him, if people aren't then you can root against him and hope the next coach is better.

No I think the time has come to dress our wounds fold up our uniforms and put this season away as quietly as possible. I see nothing to be gained playing anymore games with the team in it's present form.
The Big East needs a strong SJU program!

Before Balamou and Bourgault no less. Extremely odd.

This team needs experience. Branch may not be a freshman, but he's a rookie.

Then maybe there needs to be a bit more attention paid to the motor of the kids being recruited.  Just because someone is a freakish athlete doesn't necessarily make them a great player.  Maybe get a more fundamentally sound player who busts it?  Roster makeup.

If we don't get invited to the NIT, then we shouldn't go to a postseason tournament.  Just my opinion.

Young teams need as much practice and game experience as possible. There's nothing to lose by playing in the CBI or any other postseason tournament
