The idea is to get our students, alumni and general fans in buses to games @ Nova GT, Prov etc. It's a realistic way to we can make a difference.
I want to go to Hinkle but more importantly I like going to places I've never been to.

Heck I'd look forward to going to Creighton

I hear ya, and I appreciate your optimism. Still, I've been to Omaha. Stayed in a hotel across the street from the basketball arena. I guess I generally feel out of place when I'm surrounded by uneducated right wing republicans.

The roster that Steve Lavin has assembled in Queens is beyond loaded.

The Red Storm will likely return their top five scorers from this past year’s team that won 17 games, and add two high-profile prospects in skilled forward Orlando Sanchez and lethal scoring guard Rysheed Jordan. Jordan should instantly blend with St. John’s perimeter triumvirate of Phil Greene, Jamal Branch, and D’Angelo Harrison, the Red Storm’s top scorer from a year ago (17.8 PPG) who missed the end of last season due to suspension.

Talented forward JaKarr Sampson also returns, and Chris Obekpa is back to anchor the middle after an impressive freshman campaign in which he averaged 4.0 blocks per game. The unsung player to watch for this team? Bouncy forward Sir’Dominic Pointer. The 6-5 Pointer has the potential to be one of the better “glue guys” in college basketball, and regularly filled up all aspects of the box score last season.

The days of waiting for St. John’s to have talented pieces are over. Anything less than a trip to the NCAA Tournament will be a major disappointment for this group.

I agree with him on all points.  I am very excited for next season.

He is 100% correct.  On talent alone it is not even close in terms of when the last time SJU had this type of big time talent on one team.  Not since the Barkley/Bootsy/Artest days.  Coincidentally that is the last time SJU was even really remotely relevent nationally.

Some people are using the expectations on next year as a negative which I find interesting.  Of course there is a chance they could flop.  But this is exactly what we all want.  We wanted a talented team with future NBA players that should be ready to play at a high level and that carries with it heavy expectations as opposed to being picked 13th or 14th in a 16 team league and basically praying if things break right you might be an NIT bubble team.

1. Making noise in next year's NCAA Tourney.
2. Securing solid 2014 recruiting class and/or quality transfer.
3. Capitalizing on #1 by landing a blockbuster 2015 recruiting group.

They become a seasoned and older group.  The first change we should see is stronger and tougher play.  While much of the focus last season was on the shooting percentage it was the lack of toughness on the part of the redmen that played a larger role in many losses.

According to redstormsports.com we are playing Northern Cali DII school Humboldt State in an exhibition next year. I looked on their site because I always think it's interesting to see how we are perceived to lower caliber schools. They have our old skyline/cloud/lightning logo from the late 90's, and they refer to us as a "division I powerhouse" lol. They have played UCLA and Arizona in recent years. Hopefully we win by 30.
