Scott had two big games at St.John's. Syracuse at MSG and Michigan on the road.

Dated, but don't forget our victory over #1 Michigan team led by Cazzie Russell in the Holiday Festival at MSG. The previous round, which I attended, had Bill Bradley lighting up Michigan in one of great college performances of all time. Bradley fouled out and Michigan won coming from behind. No one thought we had chance in finals, but we pulled it off. Btw, Michigan fan contingent was solid.

Remember that Michigan game well. He was unstoppable. That game was the lead in to the Super Bowl. Great audience. Great game.

No I think you are thinking of Mahoney's last season January of 96 when they played Minnesota at the Garden on CBS Super Bowl Sunday.

Got whipped by Voshon Leonard.

Next season Mahoney was gone and SJU played both Minny and Michigan.  Michigan game as indicated was in Uniondale the Minny game was a complete rout in Minny.  That Minnesota team beat Steve Lavin's UCLA Bruins team in the Final 8 to go to Final 4.

I stand corrected on the Minny game at MSG.  It was Super Bowl Sunday but two years earlier in January of 94.

I remember the day that the St. John's soccer team won the NCAA Soccer Championship, the basketball team got clobbered at home by Minnesota. The next day the Daily News back cover was split in half. One side showed the victorious soccer team, while the other side showed the totally demoralized basketball team. The headline? Storm Booters Champs, Storm Hoopsters Chumps.

No, I mean Michigan in Ann Arbor, Jan 31, 1995. Thought that was on Super Sunday but maybe I'm wrong. We smoked them as Mahoney inserted Scott into the starting lineup and he scored his career high 28 points. Kid couldn't miss.

I think the 1995 game was on a Saturday.  I think I was skiing at Breckenridge while the game was on.

I remember that game as well that Michigan team had the last remnants of the Fab 5, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson, but I don't remember that game on Super Sunday.
