We can't win without Sanchez. Team sucked this year with Harrison and Sampson

They didn't suck w Harrison. They were decent w him. We know suck as well as anyone. 8-6 doesn't suck. He left and we defined suck.

We can't win without Harrison or a legit replacement. Samson is a great complmentary player. Not a star
Sampson the star. He makes the NB A. Harrison looks for a place to make a living.

I'm with Poison on this one.  How can you say we sucked with D-Lo, Baldi?  We were a middle of the pack Big East team with our entire roster -- that doesn't mean you suck.  Your Gaels were a middle of the pack MAAC team during the regular season and I don't think for once you said they sucked.  Without Harrison, we couldn't score.  With Harrison we win 18/19 games -- that doesn't equate to sucking.  And we are well familiar with sucking after the last decade.

So he's leaving for another program?  Yikes Lavin cannot keep players at all.

Check out the D1 transfers thread. It's not a trait unique only to lavin.

It's true. Certainly not unique to Lavin. It's not the individual that's the real issue here. It's about judgement. I trust the coach to recruit guys he expects to be here, and improve each season.

On the roster now, we have 2 players that have 2 seasons of D1 bball experience. That sucks.

Maybe i shouldn't have said Samson is not a star. With our current team ( no shooters) he can't be a start on a winning team. He may get his numbers and make some great plays, But we are going to lose. Teams can play off him, yes he he will hit some shots nut he will also miss a bunch. The rest of the team isn't very good offensively . Harrison has to be guarded by one and two guys and he still makes shots. If he has two guys on him someone is open. ATLEAST one defender always has to account for Harrison .

I'm with tony. Sampson I think has great potetial to be a number two guy but he doesn't create we'll enough for himself or others to be a number one option on a really good team. Unless that team is full of a bunch of 10-14 ppg scorers similar to a Marquette team.

Sometimes i read some of the posts here and laugh...Remember we werent impressed with shawnelle scott either. Give jakarr time to grow his game. He can and will be a #1 if he stays at SJU long enough.

I don't recall too many posts on J Jungle back in 1990 expressing dissatisfaction with Shawnelle Scott but I wasn't a regular reader of this board 20 years ago. Still, like Shawnelle Jakarr is 6'10" 250 pound center so the comparison makes sense in that regard.

So he's leaving for another program?  Yikes Lavin cannot keep players at all.

Just a quick look:
Polee - gone
Harkless - one and done
Lindsey - gone
Harrison - who knows?
Pelle - never showed
Sanchez - one and done
GG - red shirt, now one and done
Garrett - gone
Sampson - one and done now?
Obekpa - one and done now?
WHAT's LEFT?
Pointer - thank God
Greene - limited value
Branch - limited value
Marco - very limited value Leaving soon
Jones - might have upside
Balamou - might have upside
Hooper - who knows?
Pretty bleak really compared to Norm's DJ, Horne, Brownlee, Evans, Burrell. the Maliks
and Q. Roberts.

This is a joke?

On another note, everyone is right about Sampson, he'll never be a huge star. If only he were transferring instead of Amir...not.

Very unstable program I love st.johns basketball but no way if I was advising a young man where to play it would not be here. Hurts me to say that. This is getting ridiculous.
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

No joke. Geez How could I forget Hardy.  Anyway Norm's team would demolish any combination of Lavin's.

GG Played 1 year, then redshirted, and then will play next year.  Where are you getting 1 and done?

Since when did Jakarr declare for the draft?

Since when did Obekpa declare for the draft?

Sanchez is not a 1 and done, he's a senior transfer essentially who was scrwed by an outdated (repealed) rule.  Really going to blame that on Coach?

Is it bad that Harkless was 1 and done and a huge success as a rookie?  Is that not what we want to get publicity for our program?
