ACC invite....

If you have the final say and the ACC invited St Johns to join the season after next, do you go or stay loyal to the Big East?

As you say Choz, "Wisdom".

I would honestly say no. I think this league has potential. Plus I agree with what Choz said.

no way!  boston college is losing a million dollars a year on its football program.  i'd persuade them to join "new" america whatever conference for football and the big east for basketball.

i think they've learned their lesson.

I don't think the best conference is necessarily the best thing for us. We don't have the money that these football programs can throw around.

If the ACC was just a basketball I might say yes. But the unknown of Football and what it could do to the ACC in the next 5 years is alarming. At anytime the Big 10, SEC or Big 12 could come knocking and football would be in control of us again.

I really like the new Big East as a Basketball only conference.

I was referring to just basketball. I think it's a no brained, St Johns should go

It would be like being a 3-star in-state recruit that goes to Kentucky.  We would never get off the bench---or, in this case, sniff an NCAA bid.

You don't go --- you have no voting bloc with you, football interests will win over basketball every time, unless the Big East collapses, no way.

Depends on two things to me, 1) How much more money would their media deal give us exactly?   2) The effect on SJU's academic profile.  Would a move to the ACC correspond with more faculty funding? New departments and majors? More merit scholarships?

The recent additions of Pitt and Louisiville may have watered it down some, but the ACC has some schools with tremendous academic reputations.

Also, I don't think this hypothetical is all that far fetched.   And, we wouldn't be invited alone.   We'd either be paired with ND, or it would b a package deal of us and Georgetown.

At the of the day Id probably stay put, but it would definitely deserve consideration.  Plus, consider this - how 'foreign' to us would a conference that includes Syracuse, Boston College, Pitt, Notre Dame, Louisville, and potentially Georgetown be?

What are you smoking  :D  the only reason they would come knocking because they will be in chaos as they are depleted by the big 12, SEC, etc.  I think where we are with schools that share the same values is more important.  once our new league's success is seen (thank you FOX!), kids who are BB stars may see the benefit of OUR league having their best interests at heart and not viewing them as something to do between bowl games and spring FB practice because that is what they are--space fillers in an FB school.  In our conference, BB players are the story--24/7/365!!

I want no part of football anymore for a conference, and neither do our members. Make this a great conference, add schools as needed. 12 would be the perfect number to grind out 6-7 bids annually along with a nice 12-14 school out of conference schedule.
