With Sanchez and Sampson leaving the team will need a big man.  Someone to be a backup/successor to Obekpa.

Also  guard/wing who can actually shoot, not another athletic "project".

Need to look at the team we're scheduled to field in 2015.

Srs:  D'Angelo Harrison, Sir Dominic Pointer, Phil Green
Jrs:  Jakarr Sampson, Chris Obekpa, Christian Jones, Felix Balamou, Max Hooper
So:  Rysheed Jordan

Jakarr likely gone, but not necessarily.  Same with D'lo.....Right now I'd want essentially "one of each" - the best player we could get at the Center, PF, SF, SG and PG spots.   If Jordan is a as good as advertised 2  years is likely max a good 6'4 PG sticks around - so even with Rysheed and Phil, I'd want a 3rd PG on the roster getting SOME experience, since he's the likely ONLY pg with any in 2016.   And there are a LOT of terrific PGS in the 2014 class.

Emmanuel Mudiay, Jared Terrell, Stanley Johnson, Abdul Malik Abu and Goodluck Okonoboh would be nice, unlikely but nice

Thus far, it looks like we've been on Whitehead and Carrington the hardest.  We also recently offered Abu.  Those three seem like they are at the forefront right now.  I'm sure there are others that we are unaware of.

Really would love to add Abu to replace one of our PF's.  Kid looks like a beast.  I'd also like to see us add a small forward that can both slash and shoot.

1) Whitehead
2) Carrington/ Terrell
3) Abu
4) ??
5) ??

Where are you getting 5 from? Marco, Gift, and Sanchez are for sure. Sampson is a possibility. If his game doesn't improve much he may stay another year.

Hypothetical based on projected losses.  Use 4 if you like.  Just for sake of conversation.

Centers/PFs. Guys who can grind, rebound, and defend. Without Sanchez and Gift, we're back to square one. Also, there is a possibility Obekpa tests the waters as well, albeit slim.

Bottom line we are looking at 8-9 over two year span of '14 and '15.

'14 we are going to need at least 2 big bodies to replace Sanchez and Karr.

Might look to Juco or a transfer for a 2014 big because we are in position to potentially land two legit, highly rated local bigs in '15.

Precisely. Challenging in 2014 for sure IMO.

To answer the OP I start my '14 class with Whitehead.  Too much of a supreme talent.  Then I grab the package deal of Abu and Terrell.  Terrell is a much better player than Carrington IMO.  Then find me another big.  JUCO or HS I really don't care.

Me thinks you are on to something. Hope Terrell is the goods (that is if we get him) because I love powerfull guards.

Agree with your points. Stock down on Carrington IMO. Not a point, handle shaky and at this stage is a slasher, not a shooter. That said, who am I & maybe he can develop. Terrell's physicality is something!

Abu and Terrell's best quality is that they want to play together and Lavin has been making those combos work.  We have need at both positions.  Abu is a stud.  I'd take both in a heartbeat.  Then I'd like Whitehead, some other PF/C and a versatile wing player who can shoot.

Lavin can do it.  We know that.  Now lets see what he puts together.

Agree with what you said. Really if we land that package of Abu and Terrell well have the makings of a good class regardless. I also like that lefty guard from Georgia, Tedric Jackson, but havnt heard much about him in a while.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Where is the playing time for Whitehead though?
