Where is the playing time for Whitehead though?

Where is it at Cuse?  Or Lville?  Or Kentucky.
Things work themselves out with talents like him.

Who knows who leaves? Can't pass up chance for a stud. Cuse, L'Ville, Kansas, etc. never worry about that. Why should we?

You don't think a kid like whitehead could find minutes?

The year Whitehead enters college we could still have a backcourt of Jordan, Greene, D'Lo, and Branch. Kind of crowded. Something would have to give.

Play small, go with Branch, Dee, Jordan, Whitehead, and Obekpa with Pointer Greene and whoever else is added to rotation.

I figure 2014 class will require 4 guys

SG hope Whitehead but if not Terrell
Need a top 50 forward to replace Jakarr
2 big men even if Juco OK with me

The staff would find him minutes. If he goes to cuse he wouldn't play much as a freshmen either

WE could always find minutes for Whitehead, obviously.
The problem I see is that most kids who are thinking of being one and done don't sign with a school when there's a crowd at their position.   And there certainly could be a crowded backcourt in 2014.

But, no question, we should do everything we can to get him.   And I'm sure we are...
Ps there are already rumors he's soured on Cuse because they signed those two guards already.

New wish list:

1) Goodluck Okonoboh (Dave got my hopes up now).
2) Isaiah Whitehead.  (while he might seemingly want to go away to school, Lavin has a way of turning kids).
3) Terry Larrier.  Long kid with athleticism and shooting ability.  Nice forward we can groom ala Sir'Dom.

Would suggest another interior player like Delgado with Gift and Sanchez gone for sure. I like Larrier, but he is a wing we don't have to get. Just my opinion.

Jakarr isn't an NBA player right now. Let's talk about replacing him when he gets there.

Fwiw, a well respected West Coast hoops writer/maven I spoke to over weekend agrees with you, after watching him play at LeBron academy this weekend. (Small sample size I know). He felt JS would not be a first rounder based on development to date and a strong draft next year. Imo, JS is not strong enough to be an attractive PF draftee next year & his SF skills must continue to evolve. I feel he will be here for a third season and will fare better in a less competitive draft with more development. That said, he could blow up and prove me wrong this year or someone gets in his ear with unrealistic nonsense.

I'm just not sure about Delgado.  I know he's a good rebounder, but doesn't seem to have much else.  He certainly can progress, but I'm not sure if he's exactly what we need from what I've seen.

Perhaps, but then target another inside guy via HS, transfer or Juco route. We need two bigs at least.

We need guys like him.  4 year players and he is exceptional in a certain area.

From Telep-

• ESPN 100 power forward Angel Delgado (Troy, N.Y./Redemption Christian) was at it again on the boards after leading the Nike EYBL circuit in rebounds this spring. He’s difficult to explain outside of the fact that few guys seem to be able to box him out and he’s always in the action.

Assuming we have 5 ships available, who do you want?

Where are you getting 5 from? Marco, Gift, and Sanchez are for sure. Sampson is a possibility. If his game doesn't improve much he may stay another year.

I thought Marco has 2 more years ?
Finishing in 11 mos- Gift, Sanchez plus 1 (?) more.

1st) need 1 PF/C
2nd) best avail any position
3rd) (save for spring)-depends on who staff thinks might leave JS? CO? D'A?

Marco is a Sr, in addition to Orlando and Gift.
Odds are another is there somehow.  Plan for 3-4
