today;

"Best Rebounder:

Angel Delgado, 6’9, 2014, NY Lightning

Delgado averaged 11.6 rebounds per game during the EYBL regular season and he got right back to business this morning in Charlottesville. In both quarters, Delgado used his strong upper body to grab rebounds on both ends of the court. If a missed shot came into his area, you can be sure that Delgado grabbed it."

Rivals has us listed, but no offer, and ESPN does not. Hope we are interested.

How can we not be with this kid's rebounding prowess? True board men are few and far between nowadays as most just want to dunk or shoot the 3.

Angel Delgado
Now for the opposite of a finesse big man, Delgado, the top rebounder from the Nike EYBL, hit his stride during the first session of games Friday. He went for 17 points and 10 rebounds. For the camp, he is averaging 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

“@jerrymeyer247: Have the Stephen Zimmerman v Cheick Diallo match up I wrote about today. Playing out to form.  http://247sports.com/Article/Isaiah-Whitehead-Cheick-Diallo-Stephen-Zimmerman-at-Top-100-135196

“@jeffborzello: Angel Delgado was an absolute monster on the glass during EYBL -- has been a factor here too. Also continuing to advance his offensive game.”

2014 power forward Angel Delgado has nearly had a breakout past few months based around his rebounding and statistics. Delgado is still getting accustomed to playing on a national spotlight, but is holding his own. Seton Hall, Florida State, Manhattan, Dayton and Virginia have offered. Major interest is coming his way from VCU, Providence, UAB, George Mason, Florida, Miami and St. John's.

“@ZachFleerSP: Angel Delgado has been going up against two 7 footers this entire game, and at 6'8", he's bullying both. I love this kid's game”

“@ebosshoops: Angel Delgado reminds me a lot of Darnell Jackson at same age. Tough as nails, high volume rebounder and good 6-8 athlete. #NBPA”

Haven't seen a ton on this kid, but here's a video I found:

2013 NPSI: Redemption Academy vs. TAGG Academy

He is #33 in blue.

Based on what I saw and what I read from people who watched him he seems to be more of a specialist. Now I am not saying we don't need an elite rebounder, but he seems to not have much else in his game. Average help defender, good man defense, good athlete, but no offensive game at all.

“@JoshGershon: Games underway at LeBron James Skills Academy. Good start for 2014 PF Angel Delgado. Three offensive boards, two for putbacks.”

“@ebosshoops: We've reached the point that you can tell when Angel Delgado has grabbed a board from the sound of hands violently slapping leather.”

His stock is rising, i'd really love to get him

‏@DaveTelep
Angel Delgado. Impossible to understate growth in his game. Revisiting initial thought that he had little offense. It's coming and fast

Good to hear.  Maybe he's really worth going all out for.  Sounds like he's really coming on.  HS rebounding certainly undeniable.

Guess Rick feels he is worth a look;

Angel Delgado, a 4-star PF from Troy, New York, told Jerry Meyer of 247Sports.com that Louisville is recruiting him the hardest. Delgado plays at Redemption Christian Academy and has offers from Florida State, Virginia, Manhattan, Seton Hall and other D-I schools.

The 6'9" prospect is considered the 13th-best power forward in the 2014 class by Scout.com. Rivals.com has him as the 54th-best recruit in his class.

Delgado is being recruited by Louisville's newest assistant Mike Balado. Delgado is from the Dominican Republic, Balado has a lot of contacts there and speaks fluent Spanish.

Rick Pitino mentioned Tuesday to the press that he is going after two big men for the 2014 class. More likely it is to replace Chane Behanan and Montrezl Harrell.

“@jerrymeyer247: #Louisville isnt the only Kentucky school pursuing the highly productive power forward Angel Delgado. #Kentucky has him firmly on its radar.”

“@AdamZagoria: 2014 F Angel Delgado went for 17 and 11 in a loss to Team Penny”

Always seems to get double digit rebounds.

Kentucky's had good luck in the past with undersized, strong rebounding post players.   Chuck Hayes is 6'6 240 - and has  8 years in the NBA - listed as a PF his first 3 years, and as a CENTER the past 5 for Houston and Sacramento.  In 2009, he started all 82 games for the Rockets at Center.  He was a 10/8 guy for the Wildcats in College.

It's kind of funny, the descriptionsof Degado's game had me thinking of Hayes even before the Kentucky interest.
